Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008)
Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves'
Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign,
Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the
Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered:
Cloverfield was a major success.

Let me translate George's little joke for all of you who aren't retarded. See, sometimes after long lives of doing whatever they can to maintain a shred of dignity, old people lose control of their bodily functions and have to wear diapers so they don't shit and piss themselves. You know, like little kids and babies and whatnot. Get it? They're old, but they're like babies? Funny stuff George. You should go on tour.

They probably had a really good airtight diaper pail in the dressing rooms.

I can't wait to watch this movie. I hope it opens here in Annapolis. I was listening to samples of the Young@Heart Choir's Mostly Live album on iTunes and was very impressed. I especially loved their versions of Coldplay's "Fix You," Radiohead's "Fake Plastic Trees," and John Lennon's "Jealous Guy." Hope those performances are captured in the documentary.

I loved this movie and so wanted to go to the show last night -- but too much stuff going on to make it...
It's so cool that Jeff enjoyed it -- would love to hear more details about it....
Sooooo much age discrimination in Hollywood and the media that no one challenges... it's heartbreaking at times...
