Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered: Cloverfield was a major success. (continued)

For a minute I thought that was Edward R. Murrow. Wow.
MSNBC Keith Says...

What courage! Doesn't he know he could be locked in Guantanamo at any second for speaking this type of truth? Or even worse, that he could be labeled "unpatriotic"?

No, it takes a really brave man to speak like this. A great man. A man who's much more than just a tantrum-throwing, diva-like, former sportscaster. A man like Edward R., er, I mean Keith Olbermann.

Cna't we just get into the DeLorean, and time travel to January 20th, 2009? It can't be over soon enough.

Bush is the albatross around McCain's neck. It's starting to stink and he doesn't even know it.

Wow, he gave up golf. What a sacrifice. How about giving up the presidency.

I used to think Olbermann was just a big blowhard but think he's really coming to his own with these past couple of rants. He may still be a blowhard but he's an entertaining blowhard.

Criticizing our lame duck president and his "worst ever" administration is kind of like shooting ducks in a barrel. It's kind of heard to imagine that anyone can support or even want to associate themselves with Bush anymore.

It's just nice to know that someone, anyone, in this country is still capable of outrage. I share Keith's feelings about most of this, but even if you don't, I think you have to agree that it's important to have someone speaking like this. Agree or disagree, it should prompt Americans to continue talking, learning, and trying to see other viewpoints in forums just like this one (as vehement as that rant is, why aren't there more comments here, btw?), and I think that's fantastically important as the election draws closer.

Thanks for posting this, Jeff.

And again, you miss the better story...

Yes, as fun as that is, there was a much better segment yesterday when after the White House complained to Olbermann's bosses at MSNBC that he was running soundbites out of context. So, he then proceeded to run every one they had complained about in their entirety to show their was no cherrypicking.

It also had the added benefit of reminding anyone who might have forgotten just why Bush is usually kept from speaking too long on his own: he always sounds like the guy in History class who decides to spout off his dad's world theories only half-remembered.

Talk about emboldening enemies.

Slobchak's inability to admit to, or even comprehend, the realities of the Bush administration's conduct continues to amuse and amaze all of us here with brains.

I especially love how the nitwit keeps unfavorably comparing Olbermann (who is more articulate in his sleep than Slobchak's beloved Rush Limburger) to Edward R. Murrow, as if (had he been alive 55 years ago, when the GOP really had some mojo!) Slobchak wouldn't have been blubbering the exact same idiocies about Murrow himself, as if he wouldn't have been behind Joltin' Joe McCarthy 100% back then. (Slobchak Book Club favorite: "Treason" by Ann Coulter.)

I repeat: start your own blog already if you're so clever. I think "GetWithTheProgramOrDieYouPinkoFags.com" is still available.) Make your case somewhere else -- here, you're just a sad little barnacle on Wells' ass, a gnat in the ear of those who actually know what the truth sounds like.

Your party's time has passed; the GOP has nothing to show for the last 8 years except a lost war and $4-a-gallon gas. You're all pathetic losers, and all your huffing and puffing is never going to blow this house down.

Move on! (It's not just a website anymore.)

Very true. At this point, it's almost like THEY know how bad he is, but they have to defend him. They voted for him. They defended him when the jury was still out on some matters. Now that his presidency has become the cluster fuck that it is, if they admit his fuck ups, they are admitting their own responsibility.

Hey David Polands Gut and John Massey, you didn't get way-out-there-HI-larious twists on YOUR names. Sucks to be you guys!

You know, two can play at that game, H0n35tJ0hn. From now on, I'm calling you H0n37JoHn. In your face!

And I've noticed a pattern with many of the screeching lefty-types on here like you, H0n37JoHnon... you have this weird tendency to ascribe deep love between posters on this site to various public figures on the right.

And it often times sounds so downright infantile.

"You love your George Bush and Rush Limbaugh so much why don't you marry them!" "Go back to jerking off to pictures of your beloved Sean Hannity and Ann Coulter!"

Wait.... my bad.... I've just noticed in the above post that you called Rush Limbaugh.....(wait for it, it's really good!)... Rush LIMBURGER! God Damn you're a crackling wit, H0n35tJ0hn, er, I mean H037JhnOn!

NEWSFLASH!

George W. Bush is NOT running for re-election this fall!

I really feel sorry for some of y'all. He's done. It's over. Only a few more hatin' months left. You're going to have to find a whole new person for all that hatin'. (possible candidates- McCain, of course... Mitt Romney, he is one of those crazy Mormons after all... so many to choose from...)

Okay, I'll play your game. G.W. Bush is the not only the worst President EVER, he's the worst person EVER. He's a million billion times worse than Hitler, Stalin, (sorry, D.Z. ... I know, I know...worker's paradise and all, but he did kill a lot of people), Pol Pot and Whoopi Goldberg rolled into one.

There. I've said it. So? NO WHAT?

That's the point.... Bush isn't even on the minds of most conservatives right now... but it's ever so delightful that his mere presence is still driving many of you straight to the loony bin....

"Admit it!!! He's the worst person who ever lived!!!"
"Calm down, Mr. Hon35tJ0hn. Take your medication. We're taking you to a happy place where nobody named 'Bush' will be able to get you.")

No, but your reputation for continuing to appease him all these years is on the line in this election.

Probably. They at least were honest about what they were doing.

"Bush isn't even on the minds of most conservatives right now..."

I didn't know most conservatives use their minds in the first place.

"but it's ever so delightful that his mere presence is still driving many of you straight to the loony bin...."

Nothing could be loonier than supporting rendition, internment, torture, and a guy with a C average starting a war.

Oh, so because he's nearly out of office his war crimes no longer matter. Thanks. I guess it does make it easier for you guys that support his bloodlust to just move on, now that the moving is good.

By the way, how easily did the righties move on from Bill Clinton. Or did they obsess over a blow job for a few years. Hmmm...seems you're just a fucking hypocritical POS.

I'm sorry, I'm not part of the "too cool to show emotion" crowd that you and MGMAX seem to belong to. I actually care about the thousands that have died over an unnecessary war. I'm weird that way, I find it difficult to be as flippant as people like you.

Again, Bush isn't the worst person ever. This was simply another third grade tactic taken by somebody that really has nothing more intelligent to say. Bush is the worst president of our lifetime, and that probably will never change. As bad as Hitler? No. Worse than Saddam, maybe.

H0n35tJ0hn [TypeKey Profile Page] says ...

Your idiocy manifests itself in oh so many ways, Slobby, but I’ll try to boil it down to a few salient points. First:

Like any cornered, mentally deficient bully-boy, you’re only capable of making fun of those who legitimately criticize Bush’s failure (for a million-and-one inarguable reasons, the historical record will show) without ever once, not ONCE, defending him on the issues. Do you see how stupid, how utterly lacking in logic or reason, that makes you look?

You spend all your time here fronting for a man any thinking human being knows is indefensible, strictly out of some demented loyalty to your party or your yahoo home state or your blinkered upbringing. “He may be an incompetent idiot, but he’s MY incompetent idiot, so nyah-nyah! I’m too dumb to think of a way to defend him, but I can spend all day making fun of you for making fun of him, you…you…you enormous douchebag pussies! So what if he and his Pappy killed more Iraqis than Saddam ever did? Fine, he’s a million billion times worse than Hitler and Stalin and Pol Pot put together! Ya happy now?!?”

…conveniently blowing right past the simple FACT that yes, Bush and his Pappy have killed more Iraqis than Saddam ever did, with the glorious results being…oil at over $130 a barrel, an increase of 400% since Bush stole office. This really was a war to ensure cheap oil, as Karl “Turd Blossom” Rove let slip awhile back? Excellent work there, guys.

(Hmm, how much was a barrel of oil when The Devil Bill Clinton was president? Let’s see: about $110 less. So, are you better off now than you were 8 years ago, Slobchak? “Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Pa., said Exxon's annual profits increased from $11.5 billion to $40.6 billion in the past five years and there was no explanation for ‘why profits have gone up so high when the consumer is suffering so much.’” (AP news, today.) But of course that couldn’t possibly have a thing to do with the fact that the President and VP are both oilmen. Why, only a silly, naïve and unpatriotic liberal could conceive of such a thing!)

So, dear Slobby, while you’re sort of good at using this diversionary tactic, you’re too dumb to admit or even realize that’s what you’re doing. WE know you’re doing it – you do it here every day – but you have yet to grasp the concept. (Then again, most Republicans can’t even grasp the concept that’s it’s not the 1950s anymore, and that maybe a few things of value were produced during the godless Communistic hedonism of the 1960s....whatever. Their loss.)

To paraphrase Hunter S. Thompson (another godless loony lefty liberal): “There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an inability to admit Bush’s total failure as president.” So how does it feel to be among that 27% of unevolved dumbasses who refuse to acknowledge what the rest of the world has known for at least 5 or 6 years now?

This enormous pussy douchebag awaits your imbecilic response with great anticipation.

(And to all your other haters: what’s wrong? Can’t handle a lefty liberal who’s as crass, vicious and obnoxious as you are? Maybe that’s the source of your incandescent hatred for Keith Olbermann: he provides you mindless assholes with a much-needed, well-deserved taste of your own medicine.)

H0n35tJ0hn ,

You don't actually expect a reply of some substance, do you? All Walter is capable of, like a couple of others around here, is flippant, semi-sarcastic remarks about Bush. On a point to point basis, they've got nothing. Again, they have to defend him, and I use that term loosely, because otherwise they have to realize the horror this man has caused and realize their own culpability in the matter. Then they'd probably have to kill themselves.

Anybody that can be so flippant and casual while defending this asshat is disgusting, and would never serve in a war.. Ever. Chickenhawks, all of them.
