Did the cautious-to-a-fault John Edwards say "I just voted for him on Tuesday" or "I just voted for 'em on Tuesday"? The man is a hedger, a tap-dancer, a slick operator, an angler-dangler with no balls.

Doesn't invalidate the notion of an ineffectual Edwards sitting idly on the fence, but an interesting window into the backstage drama from NY mag:
http://nymag.com/news/politics/powergrid/45604/
But now two months have passed since Edwards dropped outâ€â€tempus fugit!â€â€and still no endorsement. Why? According to a Democratic strategist unaligned with any campaign but with knowledge of the situation gleaned from all three camps, the answer is simple: Obama blew it. Speaking to Edwards on the day he exited the race, Obama came across as glib and aloof. His response to Edwards’s imprecations that he make poverty a central part of his agenda was shallow, perfunctory, pat. Clinton, by contrast, engaged Edwards in a lengthy policy discussion. Her affect was solicitous and respectful. When Clinton met Edwards face-to-face in North Carolina ten days later, her approach continued to impress; she even made headway with Elizabeth. Whereas in his Edwards sit-down, Obama dug himself in deeper, getting into a fight with Elizabeth about health care, insisting that his plan is universal (a position she considers a crock), high-handedly criticizing Clinton’s plan (and by extension Edwards’s) for its insurance mandate.

Who honestly cares what Edwards is going to do? The guy has won one election in his life and lost two. Besides that impressive political dynasty, he's been a trial lawyer of the most cynical kind.
Can anybody say what his profession now is besides running for something and adding on to his already gigantic home?

Really Jeff? John Edward is that bad? Awful enough that your savior Obama has been very aggressively courting him since he dropped out? He that bad that both Obama and and Clinton have modeled many of their official positions on what Edwards has been saying for years?
Sorry, but Edwards is not playing the typical politics of Washington; he's famous in poliitcal circles for not doing that. He's just playing the smart way.

Obama seemed pretty ready to overlook that little detail in '04, why should he care now? It's not like the war is a matter of principle or anything.
