"There is something depressingly stunted about this movie; something desperate too. It isn't that Carrie has grown older or overly familiar. It's that awash in materialism and narcissism, a cloth flower pinned to her dress where cool chicks wear their Obama buttons, this It Girl has become totally Ick." -- from Manohla Dargis' SATC review in today's N.Y. Times.

I just saw the movie. As a fan of the show it was very disappointing. Some ladies next to me liked it. They were laughing and crying.
As an expat it was fun to see the locations and some of the clothes were nice but the jokes were flat and something was just off about the whole thing. Chris Noth looked hot. that was worth 5 euros.

I'm mystified by the amount of cultural attention this movie is receiving. Judging by the amount of stories online and in traditional media that I've seen, there seemed to be far more interest in this than the return of Indiana Jones.

Yeah, but anyone with half a brain knows that Indiana Jones is a real movie and this is a 2 1/2 hour douche commercial. You're not going to see threads with 100+ posts debating its merits.
