Myself and Cinematical's James Rocchi at last night's journalist dinner at La Pizza. Shot taken by Glenn Kenny and posted on his new blog, Some Came Running. Rocchi and I look glum and fatigued, I admit. Then again, we were that! Kenny wrote that the pic portrays "the pulse-pounding excitement that suffuses the evening before the first day."

says ...Let's play "Name the actor the two critics resemble".
Somebody from the other site said Wells resembles Christopher Walken and other said Dan Heyada (which I agree with more).
As for the other guys, James, I'd say a cross between Steven Soderberg (with hair) and J.J. Abrams (with brown hair).

Kunze-
I think it resembles a Dan Walken with a touch of mitchum for good measure.

off topic question-
I am currently going to a technical film school-
but since I want to learn film criticism a little bit more, (and my original stuff is mostly b-movie fare) should I leave and go directly to a place where i just learn criticism and history or should i stay and learn as a much as possible before?

says ...Mr Blood Vessell,
My two cents' worth... learn about the craft of film making. Most criitcs don't know diddley about the technical aspects. Also, the more you can stay away from "criticism" the better... that is until you become one. What will make you a good critic will mostly be your own voice. To "learn criticism" you would only end up sounding like the rest of them.
Best of luck and I look forward to reading your reviews in the future.

Stay and learn the nuts and bolts craft of filmmaking first, and you'll be way ahead of the game in terms of understanding theory.
Criticism's not a profession I'd pursue these days, though.
that's what I was thinking.
It's getting to be kind of like learning how to be a black smith.
thanks for the advice- Pope and York!

says ...I don't know which one is going to bum Wells out more - Walken or Hedaya, lol. He'd probably rather go back to T. Holly's comparing him to one of Angelina Jolie's long lost relatives. Rocchi is so totally Tobey Maguire. Glenn Kenny, I so badly want to trick out your blog for you.

What do you mean I'm funny? What do you mean, you mean the way I talk? What? Funny how? What's funny about it? You mean, let me understand this cause, ya know maybe it's me, I'm a little fucked up maybe, but I'm funny how, I mean funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you? I make you laugh, I'm here to fuckin' amuse you? What do you mean funny, funny how? How am I funny? How the fuck am I funny? What the fuck is so funny about me? Tell me, tell me what's funny!
Oh, what I would pay for a CD of Evans reading the best movie monologues...

Ditto the Ian MacShayne thing.
