Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008)
Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves'
Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign,
Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the
Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered:
Cloverfield was a major success.

Very funny trailer! thanks! so you saw it? can you even just give a thumbs up or thumbs down? There has been a lot written about it maybe being too ofensive since it really pushes the envelope. Can you comment on that without reviewing it?

Is that Steve Coogan's "prop head" in that one scene? Pretty funny but also a huge spoiler if it is.
Poland already let slip that he "didn't laugh once" but I can't remember if he was referring to the red-band trailer or the film itself. I can he love Speed Racer but not think this is funny as hell?

The prop head isn't a "huge spoiler" at all. Coogan's role is minor.

Yeah Jeff! just a few words about the movie would be appreciated. I am surprised Poland said he did not laugh once! yikes! so... did you laugh?? do you think this movie will be a hit? I know you cannot review it now but a few vague answers/hints anything would shut me up.

Nicely spotted, "Krazy Eyes." Took me three views of the trailer (and, uh, your post) before I noticed that. It may not be a "huge" spoiler, but it is one.

Hmm I dunno, not finding it all that hilarious. I wish they'd show just a glimpse of that certain megastar that's in it. Whether he's any good or not could be a dealbreaker for me on this one.

Come off it, the kid at the end if one of the funnier things I've seen in awhile. This seems like the perfect fullfillment of Stiller's comic vision, even more than ZOOLANDER haha.

I'll still see it because of the strong word, but that trailer was pretty bad.
