Seems an odd statement given the setup you have. Or do you not consider yourself a film critic? 30 years ago, I'm assuming most critics would have killed to be their own editor and make Hollywood Elsewhere money writing whatever they want whenever they want. I'm not saying it's easy, but you have a lot more autonomy than the typical film critic and there are many others like you out there. What's really dying are newspapers. Film critics are alive and well.

says ...Salaried Film Critics are dying. Anybody can be a film critic if they have a livejournal or a myspace page. You're better off on the internet since you can link your reviews to youtube clips and referenced DVDs on Amazon.
and with today's movies, you really should be a comic book or TV reviewer.
