Cinevegas, Part 2

It's not like I didn't put in my Cinevegas screening time yesterday, above and beyond the Get Smart screening. I saw a little bit of Ben Rodkin's Big Heart City (Italian asshole gambler in love with woman he's gotten pregnant), about 60% of Josh Fox's Memorial Day (a party film that segues into an Abu Ghraib torture piece) and about 20 minutes worth of Nicola Collins' The End (doc about aging criminal types who hail from London's East End). None rang my bell, at least to the extent that I was persuaded me to write something. Sorry. Trying again this evening.

Jeff: I think this piece on CineVegas by our Fest Central man Mike Jones could really crack u up. There's a lesson in there, but I hesitate to fully expand on that as it may stimulate your anti-everyman enzymes.

Man on the street interviews are so over, but Wells isn't posting many snapshots (I hesitate to call them photographs), so I suspect, if he did, they'd tell pretty much the same story from inside the event.

Gaydos, that was really unfunny. The joke of doing these videos lost its appeal 5-10 years ago.

I'd like two minutes of my time back please.

Are you kidding? I loved the Hegelianism of it, the speculative logic, the immanence, the Germanishness. Glenn Kenny would call is downright solipsistic. Turns in on itself, asking if you're in the forest and a tree falls, but you don't care, should you notice? I don't get the jury thing though. Are they judging premieres or how well things play to the Cinevegas attendees? Or nothing at all, just hanging out in Vegas?

T. Holly: By jove, you've just explained why Jeff doesn't "get" Will Ferrell! You've may have also explained D.Z's Tarantino obsession as well as the comedic implications inherent in the breakdown of bicameral mind.

Also, apologies for assuming what makes me laugh makes the world laugh. I just watched "Dude! Where's My Car?" for the first time with my 12 year-old daughter and I laughed. A LOT. Again, apologies all around.
