Frying Pan

Waiting for AAA truck to drive out and meet me at the Burbank Airport's Lot A, Section C4, to give me a jump. I Ieft my lights on when I parked last Sunday morning. It's
Lawrence of Arabia out here -- a skillet, the sun's anvil.

You should be chillin in the best Fry's around then.
Can you believe a friend of mine who grew up here has never been to check out the sci-fi Fry's?
But, I have to admit that when another friend was visiting from back east the other week, I discovered the cafe in the back corner with the convertible car booths (ala Jack Rabbit Slims).

Be careful what you wish for with your metaphors. If you follow the Lawrence line to its logical conclusion, the guy who saves you from the sun's anvil will have to kill you soon.

Leaving my lights on in the Newark airport parking lot may have saved my life once upon a time.
If I had left the airport immediately, instead of waiting an hour or hour and a half for AAA, I could easily have been one of the unfortunate souls who went off the Mianus River Bridge that collapsed along I-95 in Connecticut back in 1983.
