Bouncing off yesterday's October Surprise piece, a two-day-old clip from "Fox News Sunday" with Weekly Standard editor, NY. Times columnist and rabid neocon Bill Kristol implying that Bush "is more likely to attack Iran before leaving office if he believes Obama is going to win the election because he is confident that McCain will continue his Iran policy for a third term," etc.

Congress needs to show some balls and impeach this President and Vice-President, before we or Israel attack Iran. Let's air the White House dirty laundry now while they are still in office when it matters. Obama has already stated he won't be a pacifist if it comes to the tough stuff.

Instead of spending another trillion dollars to go kill Iranians, how about we just give Iran that money in exchange for Shell and Exxon to be allowed access of oil operations? As if any of this nonsense is about nuclear weapons. As if the failed coup d'état attempt, advised by the U.S. against Chavez, had to do anything besides oil.

I like Bill Kristol. He makes me feel good about myself as a person. Even if I don't do much good for other people and spend most of my time in my house watching movies and playing games, at least I'm not devoting my life to instigating unnecessary wars.

come on ... you certainly wouldn't hold Obama accountable for something said by someone completely detached from him...
Here's the fallacy ... you both credit and discredit Kristol in the same breath ... dismissing him as a wingnut but then viewing him as an authority to support your anti-McCain angling. Lazy, lazy, lazy.
People do this all of the time (writing someone off when they disagree then citing them for something that supports their position), so don't feel too bad. Just recognize it and try to avoid it in the future.

It's easy to see why Kristol's losing it. He bet his legacy, a lifetime of he and his father's ideas, on the Bush Administration.
Neocons used to be respected, now they're a punchline. I wouldn't be surprised if in a year or two the guy's a full-blown alkie.

roman: Well, there's nothing wrong with betting on the wrong horse, as long as it actually had a chance to win. You don't pick one which is lame, and then try to pass off its inevitable loss as a future win down the road, though.

Oh don't worry. One year from now, Obama will meet with Ahmadenijad and everything will be fine with Iran.

Assuming Iran will still exist, if Bush doesn't nuke it first...Or if we don't get nuked before they do...

Maybe we should do what Randy Newman suggests and drop the big one:
No one likes us-I don't know why
We may not be perfect, but heaven knows we try
But all around, even our old friends put us down
Let's drop the big one and see what happens
We give them money-but are they grateful?
No, they're spiteful and they're hateful
They don't respect us-so let's surprise them
We'll drop the big one and pulverize them
...
Let's drop the big one
There'll be no one left to blame us
...
Boom goes London and boom Paree
More room for you and more room for me
And every city the whole world round
Will just be another American town
Oh, how peaceful it will be
We'll set everybody free
You'll wear a Japanese kimono
And there'll be Italian shoes for me
They all hate us anyhow
So let's drop the big one now
Let's drop the big one now
