Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered: Cloverfield was a major success. (continued)

iPhone 2.0

I finally looked at this iPhone 2.0 video from two or three months ago. I thought the new phone, due later this month, was supposed to be (a) faster loading in terms of websites, (b) have a sharper, higher pixel-level camera, and (c) offer a longer-lasting battery. The 2.0 allows you to selectively delete mail, which is very welcome, but if it doesn't have the three features I've listed, is it worth shelling $400 if you already have last year's iPhone? I'm asking.

As bildeaux mentioned. The video is showing one of the beta versions of the iPhone 2.0 software. This software will be available to all iPhone users for free. It is rumored to be released on Monday 6/9 at the Apple World Wide Developers Conference. Also rumored to be released is the new iPhone hardware. The hardware will have a 3G radio which will allow it to hook into the higher speed networks here in the US and around the world. There have been some rumors of a higher pixel camera and longer battery life, but I wouldn't bet on this. However, it should have GPS, which would be very handy. It may also be a subsidized phone, so it may be available for $199 or so. Anyway, all questions will be answered in a few days.

What those guys said. No one knows outside of Apple what the actual iPhone Deux will be packing.

I don't think any phone is worth $400.
