Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered: Cloverfield was a major success. (continued)

Martin Scorsese's Shine a Light opened only three and a half months ago. I'd convinced my significant other to come see the IMAX version with me, and she had half-convinced her daughter to come with us. But it didn't happen and the film left the IMAX theatres and now the opportunity is gone for the rest of our lives on this planet. Next Tuesday's arrival of the Shine a Light Blu-ray disc reminded me of that.

Come on up to Victoria, BC, Jeff -- it's playing all summer, every night. Amazingly, they're still getting 3/4-full houses on a regular basis, certainly weekend/holiday nights. Terrific film.

The Dark Knight just barely edges this one as my favorite of '08 thus far.

I'd prefer to see this on the smallest screen possible.

Seeing Two-Face in IMAX is scary enough; but he looks good at least half the time, and there's only one of him.

i'm not a huge stones fan..certainly not of their current "wrinkly period" but i caught this on a 5" screen on an airplane and it was fantastic. i can't wait to pick-up the blu-ray disk and watch it on a big screen with some quality sound.

They should've broken up for good after "Tattoo You" (which is mostly made up of songs written in the 70s.)

Amazing concert film. The IMAX experience was overwhelming but in an extremely good way. I can't wait to grab this DVD.

That was my reaction when a friend at work told me he was going to see it - "You're a brave man; I just don't think I'm ready to see a close-up of Keef's face that's 8 storeys high."

I pretty much disliked what I watched of this. Sure, I love the Stones, and I love the archive footage. But just because the current touring incarnation of the band isn't bad doesn't mean they're especially good. This kind of lavish production celebrating that mediocrity was too distracting to endure, as were such pointless timestamps as Jack White and Christina Aguilera. I wish Scorsese made this movie in '72 or something, not today. Today, the film plays (again, the half of it I watched) like "The Departed," a film lauded for what it represents - longevity - rather than what it accomplishes. I mean, I expect the Stones to be proficient, but that's not much of an achievement for a band of their stature. The same goes for Scorsese.

Wells, I don't think the opportunity to see "Shine a Light" on an Imax screen is gone for the rest of our lives. I saw the previous Stones film "At the Max" at an Imax theater a dozen years after its release in 1991. That film should be released on Blu Ray as well.

The Stones' stage act and the Stones' songs are still better than 98% of what's out there. Look at these other 60's and 70's rockers. They're tired. The Rolling Stones somehow keep it fresh.

My second best film so far this year, right after Wall-E. My only problem with the film is that I wished there was more Buddy Guy.

the best single shot of the year in any film that I have seen is the last shot in Shine a Light.

Recently, On the hot millionaire singles club **R I C H L O V I N G.C O M***, I have some great experiences with hot girls there. Amazing, I seemed to see some famous player had a personal account there with his recent photos. He looks hot and handsome! It was reported on MSN Charlie Sheen has found his girl there last May. I am a bit curious what kind of relationship he's looking for. Sexual or serious, or committed?I am told to be a sexy american girl of 26. Catch me if you're quality and hot enough.

Great movie, and seeing it on a really big screen (I missed it on IMAX but caught it on a plus-sized UltraScreen) is a transporting experience.

Much as I loved it, I found two things irksome: Scorsese kept cutting away during Keith Richards' performances, and there wasn't enough close-up footage of the amazing Charlie Watts. I started wondering if the limitations of the stage arrangement impeded that, but whatever. A great film nevertheless.
