anyone else catch the 6 minutes of the dark knight on the batman begins bluray? i doubt they'd want to do it, but i wish they would shoot the third one in imax.

Health Ledger is so unrestrained and raw in this scene that I just can't shake it from my head. I must have watched this clip at least five times over the past 12 hours.
I'm not a big comicbook fan at all, but I now understand all the buzz surrounding his performance and would vouch if he recieved a Best Actor nom/win (considering what I've seen so far this year, nothing much).
Wells, you must be (______) that you have no reservations to an advanced screening of the film every major critic on Earth is predicting will be THE hit movie of summer '08. You've been left blowing in the wind.
But I empathize, as the 'No Reservations' trailers were a total cop-out.
Strange, I remember seeing this clip with Ledger saying the "I'll settle for his loved ones" in a childish, sing-songy, playful and slightly more memorable way.
Strange editing choice as well, the music cue starts at a rather random point abruptly in the middle of the clip. It's like the mixer missed his cue, but couldn't be bothered the rewind the film or fade in the track.
D.Z., you're absolutely right. Your analysis is spot-on and your simile is oh so tight. Thank you for making me see the truth. If only Heath Ledger could have been in better command of his talent. It's a shame he didn't really know what he was doing. You do though. Thank you for making me see.
I agree with you that, after watching this closely, I don't think it's a finished scene from the movie. The quick, awkward cuts and the lack of any background music make me think it's just a few shots of Heath ad libbing and frightening the extras. Which is still pretty cool.
Well I saw the film last week here in Sydney and having seen the above clip before the screening, and now after, I can tell you that it is actually intercut with some other stuff going on at the same time (for those who have seen it, remember the "panic room" part) which probably accounts for the bizarre cuts in music.
Speaking of music I love the Joker theme, which is just a building whiny hum, which each time, klet's you know he's coming.

He comes off like he's playing a struggling actor who's trying to get in touch with his agent more than the Joker...

I hope the final mix is more polished.
