Cloverfield [BLU-RAY] (Paramount Home Entertainment, 6.3.2008) Disguised under deliberately goofy, yet deliciously edible-sounding, aliases such as Cheese and Slusho, Matt Reeves' Cloverfield was produced and rushed into theaters under an equally appetizing shroud of secrecy. From last year's incredibly elusive Super Bowl ad to the film's viral marketing campaign, Cloverfield had everybody scratching their heads and drooling in anticipation. Aside from the as-yet untitled title and the Blair Witch-ian visual style, the film's biggest appeal was the enigmatic creature who was last (un)seen hurling the decapitated head of the Statue of Liberty onto the crowded streets of New York City. All we knew about the mysterious beast was that it was big and angry. Now that the highy-anticipated project has come and gone, one question has fortunately been answered: Cloverfield was a major success. (continued)

Latest McCain Fumble

Hours-old comment by Time's Joe Klein that McCain's remark yesterday about Obama being willing to lose a war in order to win a campaign is the "most scurrilous" he's ever heard in all his years of covering campaigns.

Yeah, that's called a lie. Or at the very least a chilling misunderstanding of the facts. I guess he'd be our "Low information President".

The bigger question is why is CBS covering up McCain's goof? The "liberal media" strikes again.

What's even more unusual is that, if McCain does "loose the political campaign", by his reasoning, America looses the war. So it's not a case of loosing the election to win the war, either way, he's a fucking loser. And making it yet again, an adversarial game-show competition type thing to win the presidency, he shows that republicans will say whatever they have to, whenever they have to to get what they want.

Maybe he should drop the reactionary bullshit, and concentrate on coming up with ACTUAL POLICIES and IDEAS that may mean that America can win the war, whether old man retard gets elected or not.

we lost in Vietnam and now they are doing better than ever - they even host Donald Trump beauty shows. Doesn't John McCain own a summer house there?

My opinion of McCain as a possible president continues to drop lower and lower and lower . . .

I used to respect him but it seems like his time in politics is quickly drawing to a conclusion. He really should be considering retirement, not a promotion.

Well, Obama would be better served politically if Iraq was lost.
