I need to be fair and pass along this AP Anthony McCartney report that says Shia Lebeouf wasn't at fault in last weekend's flip-over accident. The article quotes Sheriff spokesperson Steve Whitmore as saying it was the other guy's fault -- ran a red light, slammed into Bebeouf's truck. Was the other guy bombed also?

One of these days you'll get his name right on the first try (I still have to look every time and I concentrate so hard on the Beouf, I blow the La).

I don't think Rove looked evil enough. Couldn't Stone have re-imagined him as having a long, twirlable, pencil-thin moustache?

I wonder if the other driver "at fault" saved potential victims lives by knocking Shia off the road? BTW I'm for the death sentence for asshole drunk drivers. Yes I had two relatives killed by one. He served two years in prison then did it again. Fuck Shia and anyone who'd offer him work.

He's innocent. Thank God. Our long national nightmare is over.
But like Wells says, the fact that he was driving drunk in the first place is sickening, even if he technically wasn't at fault for the accident. I hope he gets prosecuted to the full extent of the law for DUI.

It was a misdemeanor DUI, which likely means his blood alcohol level was low. So I think "bombed" is the wrong word.
Speaking as a guy who's never gotten a DUI, the blood alcohol limits are very low in this country. You absolutely do not need to be drunk to be over them.

Hey Massey: "Misdemeanor DUI" doesn't mean Shia's BAC was low. It just means he didn't kill someone or otherwise commit a crime deemed worthy of "felony." He could quite possibly have been "bombed." He could also have been "toasted," "wrecked," "plastered," "three sheets to the wind." Etc.
Whatever. I assume he was too drunk to drive. Fuck 'im.

I have had a loved one almost lose their life to a hot shot young guy drunk behind the wheel. He got a little hand slap. My relative got 3 months in the hospital and life long disability.
If Shia had been sober he probably could have avoided the crash. End of story. He needs his license suspended and some serious education about the consequences of driving and drinking. He's a disaster in the making.
By the way, did anyone get a look at his Mom and what she said? Holy moly... what a piece of wonked out piece of work she is. No wonder the kid has no idea about consequences.

cj>> It's an easy mnemonic - all the vowels except the one that doesn't look right (an i ) in alphabetical order. And then you have to remember to capitalize the B, of course.

And I gotta echo the prevailing sentiment above. I don't care if he wasn't technically at fault in this particular accident. The guy was drunk and driving. He shouldn't be on the road.

Jeff: It's not unbelievable, considering Sunset's got the worst drivers. [Someone told me it's because all the bars are around there.]

A lot of opinions and consternation here, but does anyone even know what his BAC was?
Drunk drivers are assholes, but there's a difference between a guy who misjudges his beers with dinner and a guy who slides behind the wheel carrying twice the legal limit in his bloodstream.

By being drunk, he reduced his reaction and awareness...sober, he may have been able to avoid this wreck.
Drinking and driving is not cool...

Shia reportedly has been charged with misdemeanor DUI... for driving under the influence, according to California's standards, not for causing the accident, David Poland's Gut.
I stand by my opinion that he might have been able to avoid the accident had he been sober.
In any case, how many more close calls and incidents does this guy need before accepting he's got a problem?

Yeah, but "might have" doesn't mean "would have."
And apparently there's an interview in the Sept. Details where he says he can't just sit down and have one or two drinks.
When Wells learns of this he will almost certainly conclude that it was smart and noble of him to try to pump/needle the kid about "the program." Prepare for the annoucement.
