The Dark Knight is tracking at 89, 71 and 51 -- God, that's the biggest first-choice number I've ever seen! Mamma Mia! is running at 88, 28 and 14. Space Chimps is pretty much a disaster -- 62, 18 and 1. Stepbrothers (7.25) is running at 83, 35 and 5. The X-Files: I Want to Believe is at 75, 23 and 4. The new Mummy movie is 90. 36 and 6. Kevin Costner's Swing Vote is at 47, 16 and 1-- obviously in trouble. The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants chick flick is running at 67, 18 and 4. Fly Me to the Moon is at 19 13 and 0. Perfect Game is at 20 13 and 0. Pineapple Express (opening August 8th) is running at 35, 32 and 2.

Another small thing that will help Batman: It's hot a hell this week (mid 90s in the Northeast), and 3 hours in the dark and air-conditioned cinema ain't the worst idea in the world.

the first pants movie was surprisingly entertaining, but I'll pass on 2. Although if the wife buys it like she did on, she'll want me to watch it.

It's a shame about Swing Vote, since that looks like a great cast. But these kinds of comedies rarely do well with audiences. Oh, and the Aero's gonna have an early screening of Pineapple Express with the director.

Granted it's only one percentage point, but how does the Mummy 2 have a higher general awreness rating than The Dark Knight?

chappie: It's the third Mummy movie, actually. And I imagine the reason it has higher awareness was because of how well The Forbidden Kingdom was received, since that put Jet Li out of Hollywood B-movie hell.

Dear god, they've now made three of those movies?? There's a special place in movie star hell reserved for Brendan Fraser.

I was almost interested in Mummy 3 until I saw the awful CG yetis and three-headed dragon. At least it's not directed by the talentless Stephen Sommers.

Maybe the slightly lower showing for The Dark Knight's awareness number is due to the fact that it doesn't have the word "Batman" in the title? I can imagine some people going "The Dark Knight, what's that about?", whereas even if they didn't actually know that they had MADE a third Mummy movie, if asked whether they were aware of it they'd say "Oh, The Mummy. I know THAT."
I've worded that poorly, but hopefully you get the gist.

First number: general awareness
Second number: definitely interested
Third number: first choice movie
All in percentages.
So 51% of those surveyed who said it was their first choice movie is pretty damm amazing.

Have seen posters and trailers for it in my part of the San Fernando Valley.
Basically, it's Disney's sole Touchstone release for awhile with Kevin Costner's good-old-aging-boy (the one-sheet makes Costner look like he's willing to be a guest star on MY NAME IS EARL) the sole deciding vote in an important national election.
Might make a fun double bill with LIONS AND LAMBS post-election.

I believe the 89% aware for TDK is a typo that should read 98%. The movie was at 97% aware on Monday, and obviously awareness isn't going to go down by that much - it's much more likely to go up.

So most people who've heard of Pineapple Express, which appears to be a small cult, will definitely see it... just not on opening weekend?
Am I reading those numbers right?
