Very late 30s to mid 40s lush fantasy romanticism . . . Kind of Gone With The WInd-ish, Wizard of Oz-ish, with a hint of Portrait of Jenny noirish fatalism towards the end . . . Star Trek?

I thought it was Shadow of a Doubt, but I think I'm wrong.

This one's going to drive me crazy. It's late 40s or early to mid 50s, I thought Sunset Boulevard or All About Eve but they're not right (and anyway, Miami wouldn't be a clue for either one)... I know it even more from a trailer than from the film, but damn, I can't think what it is...

I got it, it's Notorious. I knew it reminded me of Hitchcock.

Notorious is one of my favorite Hitchcock films and one of his best but I don't find the musical score particularly memorable. My favorite score from Hitchcock's early Hollywood films from the 1940s is Rebecca's (Franz Waxman).

I'm enjoying this little game, I have to say. I guess I check the site too infrequently or at the wrong time of day - by the time I look in the shooting is over.
This is the first one to stump me though, and I always give a listen before reading the posts.

I would never have gotten it, but I got the sense of menace and romance in the music. Great stuff Jeffrey. HE is the best.
