Okay, I may have given in to excessive rancor and bitterness earlier today. Hillary Clinton's speech tonight was much better than I thought it might be -- classy, tough, passionate, persuasive. When she asked Hillary supporters if their work during the primaries was (a) about her or (b) about the values she and they believed in....that was a closer. She did what she had to do, but she also delivered a great speech. Hats off.

Which Hillary do we believe? The one who gave tonight's speech? Or the one who said: ""I know Sen. McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House. And, Sen. Obama has a speech he gave in 2002."?

It was all about her campaign, her goals, her platform - she didnt say enough about Barack. She didnt bridge the gap to Barack's platform; it was only implied if anything. That is not stepping up as much as she could have. You could see what I was thinking on Michelle Obama's face during most of the speech ("say something good about Barack, you selfish bitch!").

Todd, yeah I already cant remember Warner after Clinton's masterwork, but I do recall him being better after he latched onto economic ingenuity. Remember, boring keynote is actually something of a legacy: Evan Bayh 1996, Harold Ford in 2000. It doesn't always go poorly for people in the long run: Bill Clinton's Keynote in 1988 was so bad his only applause line was "and finally".

Why was Hillary talking about VOTING RIGHTS FOR WOMEN and EQUAL PAY FOR EQUAL WORK? Is it 1904 or something?
Hey, maybe women will earn the exact amount as their male counterparts when they stop calling off sick three days a week to go to Cedars Sinai because they have the sniffles and taking off for four months every time they feel the need to bring another creature into the world.

I'm not a DITTOHEAD (although the SLAYER song OWNS)....
I don't even vote.
But face the facts... if you've ever worked in a co-ed office or a predominantly female office, you'd know that women take more sick days, more vacation time, more bullshit long breaks and make more lame excuses; In my decade-long tenure in middlebrow boring corporate America, I can't tell you how many female coworkers come and go as they please, skipping off to three-hour Yenta lunches and endless doctor's appointments, while the fellas clock in for a straight 40 week in and week out.
If you're actually in the office doing your job right alongside everyone else, then good on you and fight for that wage. But show me the man who can take FOUR MONTHS OFF to go bang hookers and play golf... or even just hang out with his family... and then we'll talk about who's putting in equal time at the office.
And no one should have children anyway. What's the point? You're just gonna cheat on your spouse to fuck models and leave the kids messed up for life.

Well, I imagine responsible people have kids, because they believe there's no one else who means as much to them as their significant other and/or partner.

I can see your point here, but this speech was not really about Barack. This was about her reaching out to the holdout Hillary supporters who resented that she didn't get the nom, and reminding them that the most important thing is to let go of that and support Barack. He'll have his own turn in the spotlight to focus on himself. This one was for the Hillary supporters, and she gave them what they needed to hear, while supporting Barack. It's one of her classier moments.

Jesus, Lex, sometimes you really are a fucking idiot. Most women in corporate America have 6 weeks of maternity leave, 8 if they have a c-section (and I'd love to see how fast you would be back to work after having your gut cut open and your internal organs removed to have a child delivered).
Thankfully, many progressive employers also now give their male workers paternity leave as well -- my husband was able to take 4 weeks off when each of our kids were born.
I could site study after study about the link between early infant bonding with parents to sound emotional development in later life, or the stats of countries like Denmark that have a better grasp on supporting families and early childhood development, or discourse on the necessity of supporting parents during the children's early years and the positive impact it has on society as a whole, but I suspect all that would be lost on you.
On the plus side, with the caveman mentality you're displaying here, I wouldn't worry too much about you marrying, having kids, and impacting future generations through your stupidity.
One of these days, though, you'll be an old man lying in a hospital bed, clinging to life while the children raised by working women insert your IVs, lift your wrinkled ass onto a bedpan, and perform surgeries to prolong your existence on this planet. Then you can tell all those folks how their lazy, worthless mothers never should have given birth to them -- preferably right about when you're getting a catheter tube inserted.
