Orange Steed

This i-Phone shot of a horse sculpture is inaccurate in one key respect. The horse, located near the foyer of a sprawling Beverly Hills McMansion where a small party was given last night, isn't flesh-colored but bright orange. Whoever designed the huge home, owned by a French financier-producer (and previously owned, incidentally, by the late novelist Sidney Sheldon), decided to punctuate the interior with bold orange pillows, chairs, vases and whatnot. A stunning decision, to say the least. Otherwise I encountered nice vibes, the aroma of damp grass, a beautiful back lawn, violet-colored pool water and gracious hosts.

Speaking of stunning decorating decisions, did anyone else see the NY Times spread on Roland Emmerich's Kensington home? Nice to know he found a way to spend those STARGATE bucks.

The only way that horse impresses me is if it shits creamsicles and blows out orangeade.

Do you get a little of your money back every time you mention you took a picture with your phone?

tophertilson,

The interior of Roland Emmerich's house is one of the dumbest things I have seen lately.

Although, the chalk work paint on the walls of his office is cool, it was immediately negated by the beach ball made of Barbie dolls lying on the floor.

And do not even remind me of all the communist references, sculpture of the pope reading his own obit under the stairs, cock alarm clock in the guest bedroom, Schwarzenegger as Rodin's The Thinker, White House birdcage, JFK assassination diorama...

Talk about tacky and living in a gaudy joke.

Okay - I could never live there, but I'd kill to give it good walk-through. It strikes me the same as the traditional Classicist art-collectors home: did you really want to live in a curio? Fine to have some pieces here and there, but you might as well lease a few rooms from the Tate if that's all you really want from a home. It feels like a designer did this for him as a counter-balance to his vapidity as an artist/director.

Not to cross wires - I am referring to Emmerich's home, not the Universal City Walk McMansion Jeffrey visited most recently.
