The Betrayal
November 30
Four days old, pre-Biden decision, still nutritious: "I lke Obama better because he's younger, cooler, smarter. The Democrats never do anything bold once they get the nomination. I'm still for Obama, but I have to tell you -- he's trying my patience. I thought he was going to be different. He didn't have that 'I'm going to blow it' look on his face. But he's doing the same thing as Kerry and Gore...to be sort of the lighter version of the Republican candidate."
This segment is good also.

Has anybody nicknamed the Dem ticket yet? I keep playing things over in my head, and while technically Biden shouldn't come before Obama, I kinda like the sound of...
JOBAMA!

How about: "That's Bi Bama!"
or "Biden-O-Mite!"
or "Barjoe!"
Yeah, funny thing, all those candidates trying to appeal to the center where the votes are, instead of sewing up that MoveOn/Code Pink 15%. What's up with that?

They are going after the MoveOn/Code Pink position on Iraq for instance ( the percentage is more like 66%). Nearly all of the Republican positions are unpopular (except the short term blip for the asinine drill, drill, drill gambit) and the question is why the Democrats aren't more agressive in exploiting GOP weaknesses.

Hey look more barely-hidden racism from Mgmax. This shit doesn't even rhyme with the catchphrase.
I'll postulate that you'd defend this bullshit as an attempt at being funny. Given that nearly everything you've ever posted here are nonsense Republican talking points I have no illusion that you're basically just helping along racist memes.
To Gruver: Obama is the one hope we progressives have right now. This "well I don't know about him!!" shit doesn't help you at all, and frankly if you think running negative pieces about Obama is doing anything to defeat the Republicans this year, you're mistaken. This is why we keep fucking losing: everyone thinks they're an iconoclast because "I'm a democrat, but I don't like what this guy did!" Fucking save it for after the election. Get your people in to power and THEN you get to bitch. Jesus.

Ah... someone smugger than Obama, Biden and Bill Maher put together: Spindozer.
I've been reading Wells for nearly a decade and have only recently begun indulging in the comment board antics ... I come down on the same side with you, Spindozer on about 90% of your positions, but christ if you aren't the most insufferable person here. Everything is negative and and all of your insults are launched off your back foot. Your condescending retreats are the most infuriating and cowardly way to engage people with whom you disagree. It's like you're throwing water balloons at people on the street instead of engaging them face to face. You're just making it harder for the rest of us.
Of course I'm just a guy attacking you without laying anything on the line, so why listen to me? I probably wouldn't. Just try a little tact once in a while, it goes a long way.

And Zac's right, don't tell us you're wavering on Obama now, Jeffrey. There is no alternative. McCain ten years ago (MAYBE!), but this is it!

Hey Bertschy genius,
Say "Jobama" a few times until you get it, too.
"Given that nearly everything you've ever posted here are nonsense Republican talking points I have no illusion that you're basically just helping along racist memes."
is nonsense Republican talking points. The verb needs to be in agreement with "everything." But what do you expect from a product of public schools where you can't even fire bad teachers or give merit pay to good ones because of the unions. Vouchers!

Shit, Zac, you should've been here when this guy went to the mat for Cunningham. " We can't even use a candidate's middle name?"
It was ridiculous.

Ah, the mythical "center", which means "Right" which means that the Republican worldview must be considered the only view because the Democratic Party is scared of demonization (a friend told me that the "Obama not putting hand over heart during the Pledge" story is still floating around).
I'd rather choose between an apple and an orange than between a red apple and a green apple.

Spoken like a true left coaster, Terry.
Let me clue you in to the secret of every election: Catholic union workers in the upper midwest. When Republicans win they're called Reagan Democrats. When Democrats win they're called Clinton Republicans. They're who the election comes down to every time because they're up for grabs in an electorate that's otherwise pretty much nailed down. They're why Obama picked Biden, one of the few prominent Dems thought to be able to speak their language. And if you want to write them off, go ahead, but the next sentence starts with "I, John McCain, do solemnly swear..."

On the train into Manhattan from New Jersey this morning, I heard one of my fellow passengers ask his seatmate if he had heard about Biden plaigiarizing parts of a book he published. The seatmate replied that he had heard something about it.
It doesn't matter what JB did and when he did it. The uninformed voterate will misremember and distort the truth. I've read the rationales for choosing him, but I still don't get it.

I like when Maher said (referring to "Religulous") "Don't call it a documentary - that makes it sound like you have to put your thinking cap on." Ok, Bill - I"ll be sure to keep my thinking cap off when I watch it.... And then a few seconds later he says "I swear to God...." Which God are you swearing to, Bill?

I have to say, when Jeff went on O'Reilly, I expected this place to quickly fill up with insufferable conservatives. Instead, we've had an influx of insufferable liberals. Which makes me wonder, who is O'Reilly's audience these days?

I just saw the O'Reilly clip for the first time. O'Reilly's patronizing tone was enough for me to end the clip about the 90 second mark. That sort of conversation seems best suited for a psychiatrists office. How could you!? Why? Why, Jeff! WHY!!
