Holy shit, Wells. This is beyond disturbing. This is frickin' Zodiac material. I guess you've achieved a certain amount of infamy among the not-so-level-headed sect of the right wing. Please don't let this deter you. All these bullies want is for you to keep your liberal mouth shut. I usually don't agree with your means so much as your ends, but this is a First Amendment discussion. Should you tone down your rhetoric in order to feel a bit safer? I don't believe so.
These guys like to feel tough and important through writing some anonymous, cryptic "message", and they should not be satiated. As a bleeding heart lib who constantly takes issue with most of your election year political postings, I still believe that you should not dull your writings based on some NRA nut's drunken, semi-literate ramblings. Wear this shit as a badge of honor, my friend.

Where did he say that conservatives were more able to suffer fools gladly? I'm a nice guy, nice to a fault actually. But when people make ridiculous statements, I'm not willing to hold my tongue on that.
But by the way, i'm not a Democrat or a Republican. Not a liberal or a Conservative. But I do live in a very conservative state. And I just spent five years living in Oregon, which is much more liberal. And I have to say, without a doubt, the people were way nicer in Oregon. That may be due partially to the good weed, but I don't think so. Lots of mean people smoke weed.
And his point can't be proven, and he knows that. He made a ridiculous statement that he can't back up. Which is why he made it.
I believe you consider yourself a conservative, Massey. Which goes a long way in explaining why you responded the way you did. But only one of us is unbiased by political affiliation here. Which is fairly important, I would think.

Wow, did you read that off the back of a cereal box? I'm pro death penalty, anti abortion, against the war, haven't made up my mind on who I'm voting for in November. Don't love either of the two candidates. Does that help, wannabegenius?
So your entire reply to me was meaningless. I don't represent Democrats, cause I'm not one. Even though your post is therefore hollow, I'll continue just for the sheer fun of it.
"I won't be casting a single vote for a Republican in November, but that does not mean I'm running from my conservative stripes. And yes, I find it funny that you respond to an accusation that liberals are less nice by not just correcting him, but calling him a "fucking moron." And your defense of it is even funnier, to tell you the truth. "
This entire paragraph makes two assumptions. One, that I am concerned about you running from anything. And two, that I really care what you find funny. I find your lack of self awareness funny, to tell you the truth. Now tell me, do you care anymore about my sense of humor then I care about yours? I didn't think so.
"That "nice to a fault" equals "fucking moron" in your world means that you absolutely have the best weed."
Man, I do not suffer fools gladly. As much as I don't want to, I'll do the math for you.
Here we go, you ready to take notes? I am a nice guy, as nice as they get, unless somebody makes a ridiculous, anti-thinking statement on a public message board where debates run rampant.
You keepin' up, champ?
One more thing, the guy that started this little debate basically came out and ripped a good portion of this country. And I quote"
"on the whole republicans are nicer people than democrats- they're more grounded in reality, less clouded by conspiracy and more humbling in the company of their fellow man"
Sounds pretty arrogant, narrow minded, and mean spirited to me. Those aren't qualities I would associate with being nice.

But with one commercial, on a national stage, he ridiculed and insulted Obama, Britney, and Paris. Whatever you think of them, that was nasty and unnecessary.

Jeff's comments on Hollywood-Elsewhere about Voigt came in for a number of Beckian jabs and inspired general whining about the liberal Hollywood thought police. I can't find a video of this segment online, though.

I don't know from Oregon, but around these parts there tend to be more liberals than conservatives who are condescending, intolerant, and not very "nice" to anyone with an alternative (even moderate) viewpoint on things.
"Conservative" guys like Max or Massey can be confrontational, but they're never dismissive. Of course there are good, engaging libs on here too--Burma most of the time and where-art-thou Christian spring to mind, as well as some others -- even DZ means well, but even the worst conservative on here can't compare to the mean-spiritedness or misery spewed out by the likes of some of the dismissive d-bags who call themselves enlightened liberals.

However, still can't find a video of the segment from last night with Glenn Beck dissing Jeffrey Wells and Hollywood-Elsewhere. :) It's funny-sad how Jeff's individual fantasy (and I have to admit the idea of refusing to cast Voight because of his politics seems silly to me -- I'd rather do it because of his ham acting, though he does still turn in a good performance now and then) has somehow become an impending blacklist. :)

You know, you want to be a part of it, patriotic, go out and get your licks in for the U.S. of A. And when you get over there, it's a totally different situation. I mean, you grow up real quick. Because all you're seeing is, um, a lot of death. And I know some of you guys are going to look at the uniformed man and you're going to remember all the films and you're going to think about the glory of other wars and think about some vague patriotic feeling and go off and fight this turkey too. And I'm telling you it ain't like it's in the movies. That's all I want to tell you, because I didn't have a choice. When I was your age, all I got was some guy standing up like that, man, giving me a lot of bullshit, man, which I caught. I was really in good shape then, man. I was captain of the football team. And I wanted to be a war hero, man, I wanted to go out and kill for my country. And now, I'm here to tell you that I have killed for my country or whatever. And I don't feel good about it. Because there's not enough reason, man, to feel a person die in your hands or to see your best buddy get blown away. I'm here to tell you, it's a lousy thing, man. I don't see any reason for it. And there's a lot of shit that I did over there that I find fucking hard to live with. And I don't want to see people like you, man, coming back and having to face the rest of your lives with that kind of shit. It's as simple as that. I don't feel sorry for myself. I'm a lot fucking smarter now than when I went. And I'm just telling you that there's a choice to be made here.
