She Bad

I've been frowning and sputtering in silence about the awful Tamron Hall, and I just can't stand it any longer. I turned on MSNBC 45 minutes ago to see if they were responding to the Bayh bumper-sticker thing, and there she was anchoring the Beijing Olympics coverage and doing her usual perky, chirpy, giggly routine. Her chipmunk voice and glib manner of speaking reminds me of...I don't know, a checkout girl at Target. I watch her and I say to myself, "Jesus God, could MSNBC have hired someone more vapid?" She's been getting on my nerves for months.

She's a regular Us magazine reader, for one thing. And my gut tells me she may be a closet conservative to boot. People who laugh like Daffy Duck and strut around with colorful body language and...you know, go "whoo-hoo!" and put lampshades on their heads are, I believe, blowing off steam because they lead strict, buttoned-down lifestyles and perhaps -- who knows? -- have guarded, buttoned-down philosophies.

Righties are like that -- golly-gee and lots of laughter and rib-poking on the outside and yet sort of dark and creepy underneath. Lefties are a little bit looser, cooler and more measured.

Oh, God....<< previous | next >>Not Bayh or Kaine?

Way to out them closet conservatives, Wells. Let's smoke 'em out of their holes! We demand to know the political affiliations of every man, woman, and fetus in this great land of ours! You know, we could make a list of some sort... and we could assign a color to the ones we don't want 'round these parts... black comes to mind.

Also, not to pick on some nits, but I'm assuming you meant "Nails on Blackboard". I kinda like chalk on blackboards. It's where chalk belongs. Aside from sidewalks, of course. And chalk factories. And Target.

p.s. Wells shops at Target?! That's so low thread-count...

Are you trying to convince yourself of that? Crying out loud Jeff, if that's the way you think I'm almost afraid to ask what you think moderates are like.

We had Tamron here on a Chicago news station for quite a while and you can imagine my disappointment when she turned up on MSNBC. Hey, they hired her for the cute factor, not for deep thinking. And besides...during the Olympic Show they only do updates of the news, not actual news per se because...get this... it's an Olympic Show, not a news show. You'll get your news back when the Olympics are over.

How come every time CNN has a conservative vs. liberal debate, the conservative is always a black or latino? It would be like having Stephen Cojocaru do Super Bowl coverage.

She is not only the worst anchor on tv, she isn't a CLOSET conservative, she frequently makes it known that she is, in fact, a conservative who votes Republican.
If a normal anchor on a normal news show said they were liberal, you know how the rightie cretins would vilify that person until they needed to retire?
I hate rightie cretins.
They bully and bully and when it's about them, they can only say..."Oh...way to be understanding about other's views."
It's maddening.
Ya know what, lefties need to come out and be out, and kick back at the rightie cretins.
To reiterate, this woman is the worst anchor in the world.

Man, even to people who halfway agree with your political opinions you come off as halfway crazed half the time.

This does remind me of why we got rid of cable TV in our house ten years ago. I was throwing things at the TV too often.

The performance artists currently-known-as Tamron Hall or Charlie Gibson or whatever are easy to spot. The sickening thing is that you are only seeing the tip of the tumor emerging from the skull.
When you read a story about Jonnie Mac & his inappropriate relations with a lobbyist, and you also read some innuendo which wouldn't pass a third-rate J-skool graduate's bar, doncha have to ask yourself why this extraneous material which somehow discredits the whole story was planted? How long did it take before Koran atrocity stories appearing in the press before they had the desired result which resulted in a reaction implicating the media's irresponsibility? When Suskind makes charges which should, if confirmed, result in the immediate impeachment of this administration and the press reaction is 'how will this effect the Obama campaign?' don't you have to wonder about the efficacy of our "free-press"?

Screed out.

When I was in high school trying out for the baseball team, there was a kid who would purposely look like he was struggling to reach his toes (face grimacing, etc) while stretching during warm ups to, you know, show the coach that he gave 110% and would never quit (obviously compensating for his lack of athleticism).

I told him he simply looked like a guy who couldn't reach his toes and wasn't fit for a baseball team.

We were both cut from the team...he for obvious reasons, me because the coach had me mixed up with a kid named Smirnoff...but I digress...

When Jeff talks about politics he reminds of that kid.

No, I am completely serious.
She was speaking some time ago about some part of the election process and how religion will come into play, some fluff piece to fill time, and the interviewee had come to the point of asking her, in some round-about way how she felt about what they were talking about.
She immediately looked like a deer in the headlights and then she gave an uncomfortable smile, laughed while slowly formulating a thought and then blurted out:
"I am a conservative and I will vote for McCain and the policies started by this administration-"
It was almost a bit random and stupid.
That wasn't the only thing, and that isn't so bad in itself, but it seemed she was emboldened by that and then started voicing it often and loudly.
And, some may think I'm reading too much into it, but when a problem happens with Democrats, she sticks with it for quite a while and guides the questioning towards outing the bad thing done, but when something happens with McCain, she glances over it and laughs and moves on.
Her bias is almost laughably transparent.
What happened to the "no rooting for a certain team in the broadcast booth?"
I've written many e-mails talking about it to MSNBC, and they said they support many different viewpoints.
Alright, then give her her own conservative talkshow, let us know it's her show and her viewpoint, but don't put her on a supposedly non-biased news program and make me watch.
I'm completely serious.
It would be like

I'm not particularly sensitive when it comes to this kind of thing but comparing her to someone who works at Target seems racially motivated. Even if it's on a subconscious level. Because quite frankly I've never seen a news anchor anywhere and thought, he/she should work at Target. Okay I said, flame me if you must.

Hall was based here in Chicago at the local Fox news station for several years. She was the same back here too, but was very popular because she was really, really cute. Her only real claim to fame was when she admitted to the local media that she had breast implants after it had become pretty obvious.

Come to think of it, it was shortly just after that revelation that she got hired by MSNBC...

IN the `60s and `70s you had Edward Brooke, in the `90s you had Gary Franks and J.C. Watts. In the 00s you had the great Lieutenant Governor of Maryland Michael Steele. That's it. Not a great track record. But every time I see a Republican consultant debating on TV it's a black woman. Sorority girls, I guess. They have connections and they line up at the University DIning Hall like Myannmar police.
