One of those truly great, underrated movies. And what a treat to watch pre-jump-the-shark Deniro in action.

Watch this and then watch that RIGHTEOUS KILL trailer (Good God!!!) that they showed in front of TDK ot TT (too broad for my tastes) and tell me De Niro didn't die after HEAT. Jesus, Pacino looks like he's 80 in that film (RK, not HEAT).

Probably the most underrated film in the careers of DeNiro and Murray. And what the hell happened to that David Caruso?

Caruso did this and that film. Got on a big TV show. Thought he was the next big thing when it turned out he was just the male Shelly Long. He did nothing for a while and then jumped on the CSI bandwagon. Can you blame the guy? He knows where his bread gets buttered!

That is a great scene, but sadly, I must disagree with everyone else here. I think it's the only really good scene DeNiro has here. He doesn't play a normal guy, he plays a carbon copy of a normal guy. And Uma Thurman has never come off well in movies where she just plays a porcelain doll (see also JENNIFER 8 and THE LIFE BEFORE HER EYES). Finally, I don't think McNaughton always knew he was making a comedy - some of those scenes are weirdly shot. It's too bad, because Murray, Caruso, Mike Starr and the rest of the cast (including a couple of Mamet regulars, as I recall) are all terrific, and Richard Price's script is good (is that him, btw, with Caruso?). I wish I had liked it more.
