Politico's Jeffrey Ressner has written a savvy and thorough examination of the bogus smear story about George Clooney advising Barack Obama, which began with London's Daily Mail.
"Part of the reason the Daily Mail frequently gets away with this kind of journalism is that relatively few people in the UK media call them out on these kinds of stories," HE reader Ambrose Heron wrote last night. "I would urge you to check out a recent book by Nick Davies called Flat Earth News as there is a very interesting chapter on how the Daily Mail operates entitled 'Mail Aggression.'"

I believe Clooney on this, but it really doesn't help his cause that he will soon hold a big fundraiser for Barry Obama at his Lake Como poon palace...I guess Obama needs to return to Europe where his true base of support is to get another invisible bump in the polls...

Hi Jeffrey, following on from your earlier post about possible films at TIFF, does Jim Sheridan's Brothers have a chance of appearing and have you heard anything about the film?

That seems like backwards thinking. I'd rather have Clooney and other celebrities have a big fundraiser raising money, as long as they are specifically *not* advising the politician on policy (which you agree with me, Clooney is not doing)... given that the alternative is money coming from lobbyists who *do* expect to have a hand in policies.
