Bad Karma Team

On pages 362 and 363 in the new Vanity Fair (i.e., Marilyn Monroe on the cover), the W cast assembled on the Shreveport, Lousiana set of the Bush Oval Office -- (l. to r.) Jeffrey Wright as Colin Powell, Toby Jones as Karl Rove, Dennis Boutsikaris as Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Dreyfuss as Dick Cheney, Josh Brolin as George W. Bush, Thandie Newton as Condeleeza Rice, Rob Corddry as Ari Fleischer, Bruce McGill as George Tenet and Scott Glenn as Donald Rumsfeld.

Here are the big versions of the two photos -- left side and right side.

Dreyfuss looks better than expected as Cheney. I still have major doubts about James Cromwell as George Sr., though. He nailed Prince Philip in The Queen, but doesn't seem like he's even trying in the "W" trailer.

Solid make-up job. The likeness is there, but it's not too distracting.

I want one of those belt-buckles with the presidential insignia.

The trailer with Burn After Reading elicted a lot of "Whaaat?"s from people who had no idea such a movie is coming out. And the Milk one left them muttering in discontent. And the Frost/Nixon one got one loud comment (about Langella), "He dudn't even look like him." My Burn After Reading audience did not respond well to these three very political movies. And Ghost Town got a loud "I ain't seein' THAT!"

Bruce McGill is one of my favourite character actors. He even looks like Tenet there.

They should give out Oscars for dudes who play awesome 30-second roles in movie after movie (his role in The Insider being just one of 20 that comes to mind off-hand...)

"Wipe that smirk off your face!" Yeah, he (McGill) should definitely have been nominated for that.

I wonder if the new trailer is released today. It is Oliver Stone's birthday and everything...
