Amazon is accepting advance orders for the DVD of David Zucker's An American Carol (Vivendi, 10.3), which will hit the shelves on January 6, 2009. 83 minutes long, by the way, and presented in a Scope aspect ratio of 2.35 to 1.

I can't wait to not see this. As a matter of fact, I'm heading to Amazon right now to not pre-order it, three or four times.

Pretty fast. FELON this summer is still the fastest turnaround I've ever seen, limited release and then DVD three weeks later.

storymark - if we could give points for posts, would give you all for making me chuckle out loud with that one.
WHY REPUBLICANS ARE JUST FUCKING SLIMEY
As a proud progressive, I might slam those on the right for being selfish, miserly and taking the country in disastrous direction, but it would never occur to me to question their actual patriotism. Sure, it might be a false and bigoted patriotism that denies much of the very intent of the founders of the country, but I still acknowledge it as valid.
Yet, the very premise of this shitty film is that what the left in this country would truly like to do is things like ban the Fourth of July. If it wasn't for the vile subtext, I might enjoy the irony of the fact that every July 4th the nation celebrates the actions of a group of men who were the biggest, flaming liberals of their era.

If this movie does not beat the Dark Knight to become the #1 grossing movie of the year it can only mean that the public, and God for that matter, have abandoned the Republican party. Anything less than 200 million will clearly signify the death of the pro life movement. A gross of less than 100 million may mean that conservatives have embraced the message of global warming and simply don't want to drive to the theatre.

I have this script and it's great! It's the perfect height to shove under my fridge to stop it from rocking. Seriously, I couldn't get past page twenty of this script. It just wasn't funny.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense, MDOC. Stick your neck out.
How 'bout if it makes less than the average Michael Moore film, you admit that conservatives can't tell jokes (aside from the gorilla-rape variety)?

I'm no longer interested in Amazon, since they stopped taking checks. GE's likely stupid enough to give it a wide release, because it needs McCain to keeps subsidizing its bombs. More on the film here. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/content_display/news/e3iebfd8fe8494c12b2a02e5fd3d846efca
What bugs me is that Kelsey Grammer is endorsing this trash. Drinking problems aside, he exhibited a persona which came off more rational than the jokers he's stumping for in the film. [I seriously hope he's more like Frasier and not Sideshow Bob in real life...]

Grammer is a known conservative, so I don't know why you'd be surprised.
If by "persona" you mean Fraiser Crane, I've got some bad news for you. There are these three guys named James Burrows, Glen Charles, and Les Charles. They came up with this idea for a TV show set in a bar, and they....well, they typed up these lines on a piece of paper and...
...they made Frasier up. Yep. Grammer is a guy who got very lucky and was given the perfect character to play, and he's milked it for years and years.
Oh my God. I just realized...you're H.E.'s Cliff Clavin.

frankbooth: Yes, he's a conservative, but he came off like a cultured easy-going guy who wasn't a bigot like Buckley. As for Clavin, I'd like to give myself a little more credit and think of myself more like Norm, in terms of personality.

Another Clavin vote, here.
Though I'm not sure that's fair. Cliffy was occasionally right about things, and seemed like someone a normal human might actually choose to speak to, if reluctantly.

I saw the trailer at a DEEP SOUTH theater this weekend before Burn After Reading.
People were on the verge of CHEERING during it. It played directly after the MILK trailer (which received several groans afterward)
