Chumps Speak

Gallup has McCain-Palin up three points over Obama-Biden, 48 to 45, and Zogby has them ahead as well, 49.7% to Obama-Biden's 45.9%. A standard convention bounce, of course, but still...my God. The writing on the wall couldn't be clearer, especially as it reflects upon McCain's rash judgment over the Palin pick, and a lot of the fence-sitting heartlanders are still favorably impressed.

Now that the convention is over McCain is criticizing Bush and it's been reported Palin's church is converting gays, because everyone knows it's all about a lifestyle and not genetics. It's time for the media to take the gloves off and show the American people how inconsistent, strange and bizarre these two are.

Still pretty small bounce, given the expectations of the zombies who think that Palin can "check" Obama. McCain should be skyrocketing over Obama if he really made that kind of impact at the RNC. In fact, *he* should be the one with double-digits, given that he's got all the Bush loonies and some of the Hillary loonies on his side. If that's the best he can do, then he'll be toast after the debates.

He would be a goner if he had chosen Lieberman or some other old codger. As the news comes out about Palin as it is on the internet people will get mad at his pick. The truth will come out. And if the American public chooses the McCain Republicans, then shame on us.

The votes are in from Ohio already, and it looks like McCain and Palin are going to be declared the winners.

I've said this before and I will say it again: The citizens of the U.S.A. are not going to vote for a black man as president. What in our short history would lead anyone to believe that this could happen? I don't understand people. This country, at its core, is Christian, Right-Wing, Anti-Intellectual, and Intolerant; not everyone, but enough.

McCain is a centrist? Okay. Then what's Obama? A radical? My point exactly.

One week later, and Obama still has a strong chunk of voter support, while McCain barely tops him, even *after* appealing to the Shallow Majority. And Obama was the first of the pair to hit 50% of the votes to boot. It seems to me like it's the *Republicans* who have to avoid being booted to 2012.

"If there is any justice or karma, for all the rhetoric demonizing Mccain who is a centrist (explain how he was almost Kerry's VP choice 4 years ago)"

Centrists don't vote against MLK Day or tuition money for vets. And Kerry felt differently about McCain than he does today.

I don't truly believe that. But I don't believe that a vote for Mccain is a vote against the prinicpal of a black leader. The country is polarized, if everyone simply lines up andvotes the way they voted last time Mccain wins, I think to spin it as a racist rejection of a colored canidate is ugly. I can tell you that if Barack Obama ran as a Republican he would win easily. I'm not saying that he would have to have extreme conservative views. He would have to be publically pro-life but other than that a moderate. Republicans, at least the ones who are rationally minded (and there are a lot of those despite the liberals trying to paint them all as bible thumping white rubes) would vote for a black man. My dad who is almost always one to vote Republican is seriously considering voting for Obama this year. He likes McCain but because he's potentially in need of universal health care he sees Obama as someone more likely to get that done.

but not rocky iii. that rocked. almost as good as rocky iv. i exempt the rocky series from my off-the-cuff statement about sequels. in fact, as i'm typing this i'm lifting a giant caber in three feet of snow. because i can.

and so the beady-eyed rovebots swarm around, and do their job, and make stuff up, but who cares, people are stupid or lazy or zonked out, just nod your head up and down and agree. go beat off into the weekly standard centerfold.

people don't remember last week, let alone 4 years ago.

McCain has NOT been vetting Palin since May. They might have tracking her but there is no way in hell they vetted her.

Nobody on the ground in Alaska was asked about Palin even a week before McCain picked her.

If this ticket gets elected it will just speak volumes about us. I find it interesting that Barack was racked over the coals about not wearing a flag pin but it's okay that Palin and her husband belonged to a party that wants to SUCEDE from the USA and yet they're patriotic Americans.

I can't really go on but the level of hypocrisy blows my mind.

McCain used to be a centrist and did get flack from his party. However that all changed when he bought Team Rove on to run his campaign, voted with bust 90% of the time, and more importantly picked a far-right, undereducated, isolationist, creationist believing, book banning, idiot who reads speeches (written by those washington insiders she hates so much) well as his VP.

I didn't hear one word from McCain or Palin about this mortgage crisis.

If people want to vote for this disaster of a ticket because they are more "relateable" with their C avg. than the "elitist" then really as a county we are fucked.

I don't quite understand why being mediocre is something we should strive for.

Doesn't matter that Palin is no longer a registered member of the AIP. She recently taped a video wishing them success that's ON THEIR WEBSITE. If Obama had done the same for Rev. Wright, he wouldn't have survived the primaries. Furthermore, Palin's First Dud(e) was a card-carrying member for 8 years. According to reports from Alaska, he gets "cc'd" on all her political correspondence and had a hand in Troopergate.

With the rabid right falling all over itself to coronate this idiot, their hypocrisy becomes staggering. They're supposed to hate "celebrities," yet their love for her is based solely on profiles in People and Us. The rest of us can see she's a snarky Jesus freak who lies at the drop of a hat, rewards cronies and fires those who disagree with her.

Well according to the huffingtonpost she just made her first GAFFE:
Gov. Sarah Palin made her first potentially major gaffe during her time on the national scene while discussing the developments of the perilous housing market this past weekend.

Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers." The companies, as McClatchy reported, "aren't taxpayer funded but operate as private companies. The takeover may result in a taxpayer bailout during reorganization."

Economists and analysts pounced on the misstatement, saying it demonstrated a lack of understanding about one of the key economic issues likely to face the next administration.

"You would like to think that someone who is going to be vice president and conceivable president would know what Fannie and Freddie do," said Dean Baker, co-director of the Center

roanoke - the truth is, after a brief meeting in May, they decided she had no shot and did no further vetting. Everybody on both sides has conceded this (though McCain has claimed both ways). Not a single person on her staff was interviewed by McCain's people until after the selection was announced, for instance. Her background was not investigated. very, very little vetting was done.

Even after it became public knowledge that he probably cheated (remember that mysterious electronic device taped to his back, revealed by infrared photography?), you'd still hear people sayingthat Bush whipped Kerry's ass.
