Both shots created by photographer/Photoshopper Jill Greenberg, whose work is on the cover of this month's Atlantic, whose editor has apologized for Greenberg's Dracula makeover.
Knew there'd be shit since I got my copy of the Atlantic last week. I figured he might have just taken a bad photo, anyone notice how bad Obama looked on the cover of Time recently?
Posted by BurmaShave at September 15, 2008 5:48 PM
The picture on the left (what with the harsh lighting and low camera angle) looks a bit sinister, but worlds better than the multi-light-source glob of shining wax they went with for the actual cover.
The vampire shot, apart from being sophomoric (and truly unappealing to look at) will more than likely cost her future work with anyone but The Huffington Post.
There was a great line in "Mad Men' that applies here; the episode where they were reviewing copy for Mohawk Airlines: "stop writing for other writers".
It's not "dirty libruls" smearing a good man, it's stupid, smug liberals happy to hand this election away. Seriously, who is the audience for this shit but people who are already voting for Obama? What is this self-medicating bullshit going to accomplish but getting the right even more riled up??
I don't know who's worse ... the "hussein" hyterics or the actual Obama supporters who would rather share a wink with their compatriates than actually win a damn election.
I'm not a Republican or Democrat. Just an impartial observer. (and or the record, you ALL sound like idiots....how long till this frigging thing is over?).
I'm trying to remember who said that line "Gotta keep your sense of humor".... Oh yeah, it was John McCain, in response to a question regarding his thoughts an the lie-ridden Jerome Corsi hatchet book; "The Obama Nation".
Right when the media was starting to call McCain and Palin on their bullshit & lies, along comes Greenberg to throw them a lifeline. Her unprofessional (and probably actionable) stunt will allow them to make her the center of attention just when the financial crises was going to make many people wonder "You know, maybe having someone who's pretty smart in the White House might be a good idea."
I'm not sure what the point of your post is. It almost sounds like you're suggesting that I'm not entitled to live in America without being a registered voter, which would just be silly.
As a non-voter, I'm in the majority here, by a vast margin, so maybe you should leave.
There's only one political party in this country. They're called The Government. The only thing a two party system is good for is ensuring that nothing will ever get accomplished. It only works of course, by getting all you rubes to buy into it, which is, apparently shockingly easy (which is, I'm assuming, because you enjoy being lied to and patronized and at the same time have no constructive outlet for your anger?)
My life will not change in any measurable way whether Obama or McCain wins, just as my life is no different today after 8 years of Bush than it would have been under Gore.
If one of them starts a war with Russia, none of us will be missed. Just a bunch of angry, self-involved, humorless, greedy, egotistical meat heads who's main purpose is borrowing money to buy things we don't need.
"Our great war... is the spiritual war. Our great depression... is our lives."
Am I right Gordie or am I right?
Please, knock off the childish Tyler Durden B.S. for a second and try backing up some of your comments about "The Government" with anything other than lazy blanket statements that have no foundation in deeper analysis.
I'll accept apathy only if the person advocating it has done even a modicum of self-exploration into why they feel this is the only way. Anything less and it's just more shortsighted ignorance, which we're already drowning in.

What we have here is a nihilist masquerading as an existentialist.
You're right, Gordie. You could light yourself on fire right now and in about a hundred years there will be no evidence of your existence. And in a few billion yeas when the sun swells to a red giant and engulfs the earth there will be no evidence of our existence at all (save for the radio waves and junk we've expelled into space).
Those of us who are well off may not be materially impacted, that 's an astute inference ... but what about the people on the fringes? Sounds like you've led a nice life and god bless you, but you take for granted the fact that your mother cuts the crust off of your bread and makes your bed.
"Gordie, if one of 'em starts a war with Russia, your life will change a lot."
If there's a war with Russia, neither of them will have "started" it.
That's the single scariest thing that most of America still hasn't quite woken up to yet: We don't get to decide when the wars start anymore.
If the Russians move on an ally of ours, or if Iran nukes the Israelis, or if the Israelis decimate Iran to prevent nuking, or if Al Qaeda gains control of Pakistan's nuclear stockpile... we're at war, and there isn't anything any president or voter can do about it.
Sounds like you've led a nice life and god bless you, but you take for granted the fact that your mother cuts the crust off of your bread and makes your bed.
Oh, I seem to remember a certain young man who said, "The world is a big theater-in-the round as far as I'm concerned, and I'd love to watch it spin itself into oblivion."
Gordie's right in a way. Neither of the 2 major parties has fielded their most qualified people to lead this country. I don't ave a good sense of either McCain's or Obama's leadership abilities. I've gotten a taste of their personalities, and of some of their decisions, but I don't have much insight into how they make decisions, nor how they solve problems. If I wrote a job listing for POTUS and took resumes and applications, neither of these two would be in the top. FUCK! Isn't that just... tragic?
So with the choice of undercooked fish or overcooked chicken, does it matter? Does it *really* matter? Will Obama be able to do anything that'll truly improve healthcare? Education? The trajectory of American power over the next 20 years? Will McCain? We've just gone through one of the worst (so far)... it'll take more than mediocrity to pull us back onto the horse and make it gallop in the right direction. Not saying it can't be done, and maybe even by Obama or McCain, just saying there's been zero evidence either of them is up to it. ZERO EVIDENCE.
Your hectoring (you say he will burn in hell because he doesn't want to vote in an American election?!) is not going to change his mind, so just get over yourselves. To each, his own.

Gordie, the last eight years night not have affected your life much, but the thousands of soldiers and civilains now dead, maimed or metally affected by the fuckwits who've been running your country might have someting different to say. People like you are part of the problem. And I'm not even American - but the decisions of your leaders affect many more people than just Americans.
Brian, Do you know what the average enlisted man would say if he heard me pontificating on how we got into Iraq, or whether or not we belong there? He would say "Shut the fuck up, civilian." In other words, if I haven't served, it's none of my business.
To which I say, he's right. It's none of my business. Neither are the casualties of an all volunteer army. You can't have it both ways.
Spare me this, "if you haven't served, you can't speak" bullshit.
I haven't given birth, but I can still speak out against policies which unfairly target pregnant women. I make enough money, but can still speak out against policies which hurt the poor.
The problem with the last 8 years is that people like you (Gordie) have been too timid and supine to speak out against things that are plainly stupid and wrong. Soldiers are supposed to execute military policy, not decide whether it is right or wrong.
Oh, now I get it. It's not the 40 million some odd morons who re-elected an illiterate moron, it's all me.
Just so you know, George Bush and Bill Clinton are friends. So are Obama and McCain. The only way they can motivate the illiterate cheese-eaters who make up their voter bases is to pretend they dislike each other's politics, which gets all you guys whipped up into a frenzy.
The very act of buying into this WWE roadshow should be embarrassing. But you all seem to enjoy being played and pandered to like children.
I'll vote when there's a legitimate 3rd party candidate, or I won't. Them's my rights.
Gordio, just a moment ago you were telling people to shut the fuck up about the Iraq war. And now you cast yourself as the victim?
Part of the reason those "morons" voted for Bush was that not enough people spoke out about what a stupid and immoral decision it was. You just posted something saying that they don't have any business commenting on it if they haven't served. So yes, you are part of the problem.
"I'll vote when there's a legitimate 3rd party candidate, or I won't."
Why aren't you voting for Nader, trying to shake things up at least? There will never be a legitimate 3rd party candidate if disaffected voters such as yourself don't, you know, vote for one.
Sitting on the sidelines and saying you'll play ball when everything's fair is the least interesting thing possible.
Boy, there is nothing more annoying than someone standing on the sideline while bitching that the game is stupid. You're just so much more advanced than the rest of us, Gordie, waiting for a non-existent 3rd party to rise. You get all of the told you so's with none of the grief. Way to go, champ...

Evidence? How can there be, until one of them is elected? It's all conjecture until several years from now.
Clinton was unqualified. Bush was unqualified. Most people now have an opinion over who was better, or at least who was worse.
