An offical announcement came down late today that Cloverfield helmer Matt Reeves will re-write and direct the American adaptation of Let the Right One In, the Swedish-made tweener vampire film that I wrote about earlier today. The producers are Overture Films and the London-based Hammer Films.

I loved "Cloverfield," but ... what the hell? Can Reeves (and, perhaps by proxy Abrams?) not let the Swedish-made version play on our shores first? Why not just Americanize "Slumdog Millionaire" before November?

this is not a problem......yet.
but, by the time 'twilight' and 'let the right one in' show up and 'true blood' finishes it's season, a vampire remake of 'let the right one in' might seem a bit long in the tooth (see what i did there...i made a bit of ...never mind)......
seeing 'let the right one in' tomorrow...hope it lives up to expectations....

So long as they buy Reeves a tripod, it can't be any worse than Cloverfield.

I'm seeing the Swedish film in a couple weeks. It's nice to know that Hollywood can't wait to try it out.

This will suck. Modern American horror movies (and audiences) are only interested in cheap thrills and camera gimmicks. This remake will no doubt fall under that heading.
