"I believe we make a terrible mistake believing that we have to find something wrong with the people we can't vote for" is one of the most intelligent things I've heard this election cycle.
Read that again and realize that Bill just pwned every single one of you.

Clinton was so intelligent on that program I was amazed, and wished he was back in the white house. The man is a Rhodes Scholor for god's sake and he knows politics. He's smart, he's taking a middle no commitment road. And he's right, Hillary didn't want the VP ship, because she already played that part.

Truer words haven't been uttered this cycle. By WJC or MDOC.

He believes Obama is going to win but then goes on to basically endorse McCain. Bill Clinton is a great politician but is an easy read. He and Hillary want McCain to win because they want to re-run in 2012. That and they have no real loyalty to Obama.

MDOC>> Bill didn't "pwn" crap with that remark. It reminds me of a statement he made during the 2004 election. It was along the lines of: "Am I the only one who likes both candidates?" He might have endorsed Kerry (and who knows how much better Kerry would have done with the job?), but that basically amounted to a tacit endorsement of W. How does an endorsement of W. look these days when the Republican candidate can't distance himself from him fast enough?

It's all well to look down upon the negative campaigning and the mudslinging - to strive for a higher level of discourse - to focus on what the candidates will do right if elected. Who could argue with that milquetoast sentiment? Yes, Bill looks like the magnanimous diplomat with comments like these, and it's an ideal toward which we should strive. (Maybe MathewM is right in that Bill wants McCain to prevail solely for the sake of Hillary.)

The bottom line for me, though, is that we are obligated as voters to find what's wrong with the candidates. That doesn't mean we should fixate on the negatives, but in a two-party system it's essentially a prerequisite for making a decision. I'm sorry, but McCain has done so many things that I find egregiously wrong over the recent course of this campaign that not pointing them out is truly equivalent to ignoring the emperor's lack of clothes. As far as the mudslinging goes, Obama isn't far behind, and I'm not going to pretend that he isn't. It's an unfortunate trade in this process, and as long as both parties are flinging the barbs, it's my duty as a discerning voter to not only evaluate the truth of the charge, but to also determine if the source dwells in a glass house and to point that out if it's the case.

And now having watched the video I see that Bill repeated the exact same statement four years later. It's fine to find admirable things about McCain, but this business about supporting Obama because he's a "loyal Democrat" is not much of an endorsement.

If McCain wins you can count on Hilary being the "I told you so" Democratic nominee of 2012. Face it, whether it's 2012, 2016 or 2020 that woman has the unrelenting tenacity to land herself in the White House.

For Obama to win my best guess is that it's call going to boil down to Colorado with it's 9 electoral votes. Specifically it will be decided in Denver and Jefferson County which pundits are saying could very well be Dade/Brower Counties of 2000. If you have friends in Denver get them out there pushing for Obama.

When Bill had heart problems 4 years ago at this time, I was devastated. Now I just want to stuff a sock in his mouth. If Hillary were the Democratic nominee, you can bet your fried chicken he wouldn't be backslapping McCain. Bill also said today that Sarah Palin was a great choice for a running mate, and that Democrats should stop knocking her. Excuse me, but Palin is a pathological liar, a petty politician and a horrific parent, regardless of her gender. Maybe she reminds him of Monica, and he's indulging in fantasies of thong underwear, thunder thighs and rim jobs.

I must have seen a difference clip of his answers because he was basically saying don't attack Palin. And that's what he told Obama. As for his wife wanting Obama to lose, of course she does, and everybody knows it. But she's going out anyway and campaigning for him because she's a good Democrat and she does not want that Other Woman in the White House.
But what to make of Biden, who just told somebody that an ad O ran about McCain was a mistake? I just wonder if O chose the right running mate....I think not. And that along with his race will kill his chances to get into the big House. Biden doesn't seem to be too loyal to his lead man.

What's interesting about Clinton is that you can sit there and be captivated by him. Note how The View broads are sitting comfortably motionless compared the squirming they did during McCain's visit. Here's the catch though: How do you really feel after watching that clip? Clinton while maintaining that he is a loyal Democrat and giving many rational reasons why Obama "probably" will win-- didn't go for the kill on McCain as he could of. Instead he subtly hinted at McCain being the better man by bolstering McCain's biggest attribute, his military experience. Clinton subtly played to the average joe/jane out there who could lean either way-- that McCain while being the underdog is also the worthier one to be president-- if only for his wife to poop in four years!

Bill Clinton has been scum in my eyes ever since Time Mag published their post-'04 election issue. It revealed that when John Kerry visited Bill in the hospital to seek counsel, Clinton advised him to endorse Bush's Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. (To Kerry's eternal credit, he passed on that advice.) Whether or not Slick Willie personally subscribed to that platform, it proves that he's just as craven a politician as John McCain in picking Palin -- and it certainly proves he's no Democrat at heart.

Don't even get me started on the subterfuge the Clintons and their acolytes have been up to trashing Howard Dean. They should be kissing Dean's ass -- if not for his 50-state campaign drive, a lot of those presently purple states would be crimson today. Fuck the Clintons and their narcissistic drama.
