Ron Silver's decision to become a 9/11 Republican a few years ago is what it is. But the poor guy's appearance on Larry King Live a day or two ago was alarming. He looks gaunt, drained and sounded weak. I don't know what the backstory is but I hope he's doing well, and if he isn't that he gets better. The Ron Silver I know and love is a bearded New Yorky-type guy with longish, swept-back hair, wearing an expensive suit and sporting a swaggery attitude.

Your concern is apt, Jeff. I've been hearing for months that the guy has cancer, and he has it bad.

I listened to the end of last night's Larry King and Ron Silver's voice did sound as if he was under the weather or physically drained. I just hoped he had a cold or what not. He certainly sounds radically different than even his West Wing appearances just two years ago. It's a shame as I've always loved his voice and the rat-tat-tat manner in which he speaks. Hope he gets better soon.

Yeah, he's got the cancer look/feel about him. It's especially striking in someone who used to be so robust and energetic. Sad.

"Don't ever interrupt me when I am talking to myself!"
It even seems like Ron Reagan was getting his first look at him when they intro'd each one and he seems to be thinking "Damn, what happened to Silver??"
I think Silver jumped in bed with the RNC for the same reason Leiberman did: they think 9/11 can be leveraged into providing blanket protection for Isreal against it's neighbors to head off another 6 Day or Yom Kippur War, fought with missiles.

Mr. Silver was on one of the Chicago AM radio programs a few months back and while I don't necessarily share his political views, he was very compelling and obviously is a highly intelligent guy. Whatever he has, I hope he makes a full recovery and gets back to acting.

Okay, Jeff, please, this purge has gotten out of control if you are deleting Milkman's posts for cruel and unnecessary bile. Milkman is my favorite part of HE; he is one of the saddest, funniest internet commenters I have seen on any site and I think the vast majority of the regulars here will agree that his cruel and unnecessary bile is of the highest quality.
You shouldn't be deleting his posts, you should be giving him a regular column.

I saw Silver onstage several years ago in his one-man show about Bill Graham. An extraordinary performance. I don't give a shit about his politics; I just want him well and acting.
