I'm a THC fan (in more ways than one) but really? If the roles were reversed and you showed a bunch of black guys smoking blunts and drinking 40's it'd be racist.
This is right up Jeff's alley - smug condescension to low-income, working class Midwesterners. It's this sort of thing that gives the crazy right fuel to accuse Hollywood of contempt for Middle America. We mock them, and in turn Palin gets Republican votes for calling these guys the "Real America".
@televisiontears: that's really funny, because I live in the midwest. and let me tell you, what you said is half-true.
the fact is, many midwesterners here themselves have scorn and and contempt for low-income working class people. Oh yes! I can't even begin to tell you how often I've heard people around here mocking people for working at McDonads, construction, factories, restaurants, and for living in trailer neighborhoods or poor "white trash" (or ghetto) areas. They seem to forget that THEY are included in those groups of people. too.
there's a lot of self-loathing and mockery around here.
I can kinda see what they were going for, and I like THC, but it wasn't that funny. It could have been better.
I'm really not understanding all the Midwestern jibes that occur around here. Do I have to take an IQ test? Prove that my parents are not blood related? Show my last IRS return to show that residing some odd miles south of Chi-Town are a couple of that indeed we are lower income working class stiffs? And while I'm thinking of it, I don't know how Midwestern lower income working class stiffs got equated with being sub moronic? Why is that? I can dig making fun of stereotypes but fucking Christ on a stick it's really pounded over the head here.
What the hell? Honestly Jeff, did some corn fed beauty from Iowa dump your ass thirty years ago?
I don't think I would ever look down at anyone for being blue-collar or lower-income (since I am both of those things).
It's more the close-mindedness, ignorance, lack of culture, prejudice, religious zealotry and lack of education (northeast is still #1 in both % of high school and college grads....holla!)
Seriously, McCain is appealing to middle America by reffering to Obama pejoratively as an "eloquent speaker", which is funnier than that THC sketch.

That's a SNL level short - simple and way too long.
