Faraway

Visitor (okay, yours truly) in a sea of tall grass on the "front lawn" of a
huge property in Tuscany, 10 or 15 kilometers north of Sienna on some smallish back road, taken late May of 2000.

If you find yourself alone, riding in green fields with the sun on your face, do not be troubled. For you are in Elysium and you are already dead!

wow, really fantastic. i think the strong reds interjected to that field of desaturated green fading to yellow is one hell of a combination, really sets it apart, makes it evocative.
btw, in my mind it's not visually derivative of Wyeth just because he pops to mind (although I suspect the idea for the photo might've come from remembering his use of the sweeping curves of the farmers landscape in paintings like Christina's World). I guess for me it's more Gladiator than Wyeth.

My first thought was of 'Christina's World' also. 'Days of Heaven' soon followed.

Looks just like Monet's "The Poppy Field." Very cool.

It seemed odd to me that nobody's mentioned this yet. Despite all the "Christina's World" and Monet aspirations people are putting on this shot, I wonder why no one has noted the freakishly orange/red color of Wells' hair. I get juicing your hair (well, no, not really I don't), but I never thought Raggedy Andy was a great hair model to emulate.
