Further W. Talk

My Tuesday chat with W. director Oliver Stone at the Four Seasons. And here's the press conference with Stone, Josh Brolin, Scott Glenn, Richard Dreyfuss, Rob Corddry, Thandie Newton, Elizabeth Banks, James Cromwell. There's a bizarre moment at the beginning of the press conference recording when an electronic fire alarm goes off.

He should have just done a farting noise when you mentioned "Zodiac".Weren't impressed by it,was he.

Whether you agree with him or not on certain subjects you can not deny that Oliver Stone is a fascinating chap to listen to.He always come across very articulate and intelligent in his answers and his film commentaries are some of the finest out there.

Top Bloke and a quality interview.

Did anyone happen to catch Stone on The Colbert Report? Bizarre. Colbert toned down his character a little, presumably in order for Ollie to talk about the film instead of just laughing at whatever Colbert said. But Stone was trying to play along way too much, pulling the "I really mean the opposite of what I'm saying" routine: "Bush is a great man, and has been great for this country", etc. It seemed rather awkward and ultimately prevented him from actually talking about the film.

They also showed the press conference scene where Dubya is asked what mistakes he's made and what he's learned from them. It looked pretty potent, and it cranked up my anticipation for the film even more.

When you do the junket for "Benjamin Button", make sure you ask David Fincher what he thought of "Alexander".
I'd love to hear that answer...

Jeff, something you asked Stone got me thinking...why not do a piece on some of the older DP's...Gordon Willis, Dean Cundey, and others who are loyal to shooting on film and ask them what's the problem with digital...personally, I think it's a godsend to indie filmmakers.

So...I'm still confused.

Does he like shooting on film or in digital? He never really makes his point.

Kidding.

Also: Have to agree with televisiontears. His Colbert appearance was a bit off. Still looking forward to the film, though.
