Jason Sudeikis' "Joe Biden" riff about Scranton, Pennsylvania (begins around 6:10) was the single funniest bit in last night's Biden-Palin debate on SNL. Second best line: "God love hm, but he's a raging maniac and a dear friend." In my humble judgment, the most appealing thing Queen Latifah has ever done.

No doubt about the Queen Latifah thing.
This was easily the best written parody of the election they've done so far this season. Loved Fey's lines about marriage being a sacred bond between two resistant teenagers, and the nod to Palin's "end of days" beliefs. The thing about the maverick drinking game killed me, too. This was the funniest 10 minutes SNL has seen in a long, long time.

Fey captured perfectly Palin's inability to stay on topic during the debate. For me, the fact that Fey and Palin are completely interchangeable and equally qualified to be VP should automatically disqualify Palin from being the next VP.

The Biden Scranton riff was a head-scratcher. What "truth" was that supposed to play off of? Has Biden demonstrated any kind of hypocrisy with regards to Scranton? Has he ever shown any kind of snobbery or disdain for the place? Sure he's gotten perhaps excessive mileage out of a blue collar upbringing that bears little relation to his current station in life, but he's a pauper compared to the rest of the senate. Just seemed like a cheap shot with insufficient rationale.
Fey rocked as Palin though!!!

I think Queen Latifah has always been appealing, but with few exceptions (like "Living Out Loud"), Hollywood just has no idea what to do with her.

I agree that the opening was the best- Saturday Night Live is getting pretty lame- their skits are as lame as Palen's answers- go figure.

Amazingly, though, I thought the best bit was "Mark Wahlberg Speaks to Animals". Maybe because it was late at night but something about Andy Samberg actually attempting (and succeeding at) an imitation of that guy. . . . . I was laughing so hard I was crying.

Thanks for the clip, Ogami Itto. It's amazing how self-deluded some of Palin's supporters are (just tune into the Fox news channel for proof).

My in-laws are from Scranton, so I have to go there on a regular basis. I laughed so hard at that riff, I think I hurt myself. Then I hurt myself again with the Mark Wahlberg thing. I hope they don't use it too often and frat boys all start their own versions of it. Save it for rainy days SNL. Please. I agree with erniesouchak about the Queen. She is fabulous with a great voice, but Hollywood just can't figure out what to do with her.

Whenever I see Palin on t.v. I have the urge to put her over my knee and spank her ass. Bad Republican! Bad! Bad!

It's true, Fey imbues her Palin with a charisma the real thing lacks. Can't be helped.
I just hope this doesn't ruin 30 Rock for me. I don't want to think of nutjob fundie hockey moms every time I see Fey in the future. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was ruined for me by Sam Rockwell's Bush impression (well, that and the fact that it kinda sucked.) I just didn't want to see those mannerisms and hear that voice, even as parody, in an escapist movie.
With luck, this will all be behind us in a month's time. Maybe Fey can occasionally do a "report from Wasilla" thing about Palin adjusting back to normal life. Doing the weather report from a helicopter as she shoots at wolves, that sort of thing.

If McCain wants to save his campaign, he
should immediately replace Palin with Tina Fey.
Hardly anyone will know the difference, and I
know I'll sleep much better at night if Tina is a
heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Watch Living Single or even "Set It Off". QL has been slumming as of late, but she's got chops.

NotImpressedYet is right, but it the Scranton bit was so unexpected that I laughed my ass off anyway. I may be construed as a riff on Biden's habit of overtalking, of making a point and then rambling on and on until he says something offensive. Either way, that was the highlight for me.

Fey winks with the wrong eye. She needs to fix that. Compare to the wink montage on "Real Time" last week.
