McCain got through Letterman unscathed, despite Gordy Liddy finally being brought up. Letterman wasted 10 minutes getting McCain on the record that he trusts Sarah Palin. Uhg. The girls on the view, including Elizabeth Hasselbeck, cornered McCain much more effectively.
The one thing he could have nailed him down on, "terrorists" plural, he waiting too long for and then let McCain brush it off.
In the end, the appearance and the mea culpa probably hurt McCain. I always expected McCain's camp to issue some sort of statement that he went on the CBS News program to assure the American general public that he was helping with the crisis.
Last night, by saying "I screwed up" he only reinforced the idea that stopping his campaigning was all a bald political ploy that everyone saw for what it was back then.

McCain is a joke. Gotta love Letterman. Guess we know who he is voting for!
