I have to leave for a black-tie dinner party honoring Appaloosa director Ed Harris in Santa Barbara. Have to be there in time to watch the Biden-Palin debate at 6 pm. Debates are always hyped by the news media, and they almost always disappoint. Biden is going to try to play it genteel and deft; Palin obviously wants to appear a little more secure and knowledgable than she did with Katie Couric the other day. I don't think much is going to happen. I would love to be wrong.

There's only one option left for Palin and McCain's people are obviously too smart not to see it: attack, attack, attack. Whatever rules were agreed to will probably bit by bit go out the window as she tries to score more cheap shot points on Biden the way McCain did with Obama.
The Couric thing was a disaster that has cost them dearly with independents who want to hold their nose and vote for McCain. At this point just looking confident isn't enough because they need more than the base to turn out. They know they can zing Biden a few times before he realizes that the gloves are off. "Sucker punch" will be the playbook tonight if they are still playing to win.

Just a heads up, the 217 is closed near UCSB for major construction so, you're going to be late if it's not in Montecito rather than actually in SB

It just ended, and you were absolutely right. Nothing much happened.

Blink blink, unnatural pause, blink blink blink.
Nothing happened because Palin either memorized an entire speech or someone off stage fed her the answers through her ear piece.
But God bless her, her rewards in heaven. Or some shit like that.

I was away, but I heard that she comes off like a toothless Hillary. (Metaphorically speaking, of course.)
