Ringing Quote

...from a former McCain operative (posted on Politico) that I didn't get around to posting two days ago (i.e., Thursday): "The cake is baked. We're entering the finger-pointing and positioning-for-history part of the campaign. It's every man for himself now."

It was only a matter of time before the two "mavericks" began turning on one another.

This is a nice cherry on top of a joke of a campaign.

Going into the weekend the stories about the two campaigns were:

"Obama Leaves Race to Visit Ailing Granny"
vs.
"McCain Worker Faked Racists Attack Campaign Latched Onto"

To really kill whatever hope McCain's folks had of a recovery, they have now lost Indiana. That's the ball game folks, the next 10 days are just running out the clock while the GOP tried to keep this from becoming a landslide.

You can see it has sunk in with the base too - hang on the political boards. The denial has given way to predictions of how Obama will ruin the country.

The GOP is even running ads in North Carolina trying to save Libby Dole's bacon by saying don't give the Dems control of everything, the subtext clearly that McCain is assumed defeated.

Un-fucking-real.

Whenever someone pulls that "far-left in charge" crap, I simply tell them that we've had the far-right in charge of much or all of the government for the last 28 years, and they have screwed things up to the point where it will take decades, if ever, to clean up the mess. So why not let the "far-left" take the helm? They can't possibly make things any worse, and will undoubtedly do better.
