Romper Stomper

Alicia Keys and Jack White's "Another Way To Die," a agreeable-sounding throb cut serving as the official Quantum of Solace theme song and, obviously, official music video.

What an appropriate title for a series grasping at straws trying to come up with fresh ideas.

The problem with this song is that White and Keys have almost exactly the same vocal registry that, until I saw this video, I had no clue who was singing what. In terms of harmony, the pairing is dreadful. The background music is solid, but the vocals really ruin it. I bet the Ronson-Winehouse single would have been better.

p.Vice, I refuse to believe you're even a real person. It's too sad.

If you want living proof of how innately cool Daniel Craig is notice how much your mood changes when he appears in the last ten seconds.

Still haven't listened to this, mostly because I usually want to experience a film like this as fresh and unspoiled as possible.

I do have wonder what the Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse track would have sounded like had she not imploded

Not enough grandeur in it for me. Sounds very compressed, ugly guitar, sort of brittle and over-processed on the rest of the intruments and vocals.. not tortur or anything, but it doesn't have the right audio scenery or Fumes. Bond, no matter how re-envisioned, has the Barry pedigree to live up to; I don't expect miracles, but the good themes maintain a certain 007 atmosphere and presence. This is blasty, audacious - both good theme elements; but there's no espionage or mystery in it and that kills it. By no means the first awkward one for the franchise. Still dying to see the film.

I must be some kind of idiot, after reading the comments, but I really like this. I agree with the comment that white and keyes' voices sound similar and I liked the effect. White will double himself in songs and this sounded a bit like that, only with more underbelly.

the song ideas trail off at the end but it seems like a good take on the 007 genre by white.

Again, by reading the comments above, I am clearly an idiot for liking this.

But after three or four listens, I do.

Quite possibly the most awful Bond theme song I've ever heard, even worse than that one for Casino Royale.

Come back Madonna, all is forgiven.

Sounds like Icky Thump with horns.

Another Way to Die should have been the title of the film (I kid, I kinda like Quantum of Solace). Come to think of it, maybe it was the working title, and that's why they used it here.

Worst Bond theme ever, it's just noise.

Worst duet since Frank Sinatra and Dagmar did 'Mamma Will Bark' in 1951.

Yecch. That part with them singing "oh oh oh ohhh" with punctuation from the horns is particularly icksome. Wanna bet this mess gets nominated for Best Song, though? Ye gods.

I like the underlying track, but their voices sound terrible together. Would have been better off with a single vocalist.
