Last night the Orlando Sentinel's Hal Boedeker reported that the Obama campaign has called WFTV news anchor Barbara West's 10.23 interview with Sen. Joe Biden "unprofessional and combative." Look at West's conservative blonde coif, her surgically sculpted, sanded-down features and particularly her cold timberwolf eyes as she asks her pathetic Steve Schmidt-playbook questions.
In a chat last night with Boedker, West said "I have a great deal of respect for [Biden]. I have a great deal of respect for Sen. Obama. We are given four minutes of a satellite window for these interviews. Four precious minutes. I got right down to it and, yes, I think I asked him some pointed questions. These are questions that are rolling about right now and questions that need to be asked. I don't think I was rude or inconsiderate to him. I think I was probing and maybe tough.
"I can't believe that in all of his years in politics, and all of his campaigning and such, that he hasn't run into some tough questions before. He's certainly up to it in giving good answers."
Obama-Biden campagin's Florida spokesperson Adrianne Marsh said that West's questions made clear she was "woefully uninformed about simple facts."
Biden did himself proud, yes, but West is fooling no one. This pinched harridan was mouthing Republican attack points, plain and simple, and revealing no interest whatsoever in impartial journalistic inquiry. She may sit behind a TV news desk wearing a nice suit, but she is at one with the zanies from Henderson, Nevada and with the likes of evangelical right-wing Minnesota congressperson Michele Bachmann.

Weird.
She looks and talks like one of the anchorpeople from ROBOCOP. She pronounces Barack Obama's name like she heard his name for the first time about 5 minutes before the interview and is still figuring out how to pronounce it. Look how she looks over at someone at 4:31, probably mouthing her question for her.

I'm all for tough questions from a hostile audience, and when there's an interesting democrat scheduled to appear on Fox News Sunday, I'll make a point to watch it, but this lady is clearly an idiot. frankbooth is right, it did sound like an SNL parody. Props to Biden for not calling her on her bullshit RNC talking points, and instead treating it seriously with real substantive answers. He came off well.

However, with all this Marxist idiocy making the rounds, part of me is glad that these questions were asked directly to Biden, because even if it's outlandish, it is part of the campaign discourse at the moment. Maybe addressing it directly can set the record straight a bit. And maybe those perpetuating it can take the hint and go take an economics class before throwing these words around.

I agree that these were ridiculous questions but I think she did the Obama camp a favor. Instead of all the insinuation and whispering she laid out all the recent RNC talking points in a series of straightforward questions . . . all of which Biden shot down with clarity and professionalism.
I hope this video gets widely seen.

Anybody in the SF area know a good site for endorsements for the six dozen local races and propositions and such on the ballot? Kinda been tuning out local politics lately.
I'm trying to conscientiously research and carefully consider all of them, but I wanna get my ballot in soon. A one-stop shop might be too much to hope for, but any recommendations would be welcome.

If you want to see how delusion the far right is, watch that video and then go to a political board. They all try to pretend that Biden loses his cool, gets pissed, etc.
Meanwhile, back in reality land, Biden literally laughs in the woman's face after he clearly undestrands she has her attack talking points she is determined to follow through on.
The man might be gaffe-Central, but he is the epitome of grace under pressure. He and Obama really are cut from the same cool cloth.

Why are people getting upset about this? We should be thanking this woman for giving Biden an opportunity to so thoroughly trounce some of the McCain camp's rhetoric. He absolutely hits one out of the park here and dismisses every one of her ridiculous insinuations with ease.
For the Rays fan above, Biden was about as smooth as BJ Upton running the bases ... or the swings of Utley and Howard in the 6th. (go phils)
Although I have to take issue with one thing Jeffrey said. Again, in the imaginary world in which he lives, everything ugly and evil is epitomized by his enemies, and everything that is good and pure is shared by his compatriots. How does a guy who lives in LA and makes a living off an industry fueled by surgically sculpted and sanded down people somehow try to associate vanity with conservatism while keeping a straight face?

By "Marxist idiocy," I meant the tack she takes in this interview by pulling out a Marx quote and immediately implying that Obama and Biden are Marxist disciples. By extension I was referring to this entire talking point of an Obama victory equaling a reign of Marxism/communism/socialism.
Just because our economic system makes an incremental slide down the spectrum to the left does not come close to making it the extreme left end of the economic continuum. We include all sorts of "socialized" programs in our government. Should we eliminate all those, slide all the way down the economic spectrum to the right side, and become a purely capitalistic society with no safety nets or government-provided infrastructure whatsoever? That's the sort "logic" that this rhetoric endorses.
