"I can't take much more of this," Larry David wrote yesterday on the HuffPost. "Two weeks to go, and I'm at the end of my rope. I can't work. I can eat, but mostly standing up. I'm anxious all the time and taking it out on my ex-wife, which, ironically, I'm finding enjoyable. This is like waiting for the results of a biopsy. Actually, it's worse. Biopsies only take a few days, maybe a week at the most, and if the biopsy comes back positive, there's still a potential cure. With this, there's no cure. The result is final. Like death.
"Five times a day I'll still say to someone, 'I don't know what I'm going to do if McCain wins.' Of course, the reality is I'm probably not going to do anything. What can I do? I'm not going to kill myself. If I didn't kill myself when I became impotent for two months in 1979, I'm certainly not going to do it if McCain and Palin are elected, even if it's by nefarious means.
"If Obama loses, it would be easier to live with it if it's due to racism rather than if it's stolen. If it's racism, I can say, 'Okay, we lost, but at least it's a democracy. Sure, it's a democracy inhabited by a majority of disgusting, reprehensible turds, but at least it's a democracy.' If he loses because it's stolen, that will be much worse. Call me crazy, but I'd rather live in a democratic racist country than a non-democratic non-racist one."

Get used to it. I anticipate that Hillary's 2012 campaign will officially kick off on November 5.

LD is as consistently hysterical a performer we have in the US today. As a fellow Democrat, I feel his pain. But the tracking stats are highly encouraging for BO. As unbelievable as it sounds, we may have a black president on 1-20-09.
I wonder if Morgan Freeman (Deep Impact) and Dennis Haybert (24) helped de-sensitize the American populace to the thought of an African-American and the helm of our nation? A subject for future sociology dissertations...or pieces in The Onion, I'm not sure which.

dc77, Obama isn't really AFrican-American. He IS half black, half white, so technically, he's mixed and black, but yeah, ditto.

As long as stuff like this is happening, there is plenty of reason to be worried and vigilant:

By now, I hope he IS a Muslim and when he's president he makes Christians wear a big yellow H (for hypocrite) on their rough clothing. Then I hope he moves the capital to Chicago and gives the red states to the Arabs. THAT would make me happy.

yeah, but Obama isn't Arab, either. His father was a Kenyan Muslim, but he was African.
Kenyans are NOT considered Arab, when are people going to realize that?!?!?

McCain campaigning in Pennsylvania is a sure sign of either how hopeless his own campaign team feels this is (going for the Hail Mary of Hail Mary's with this PA + tossup battle grounds like FL, MO & OH) or trying to cover up the biggest electronic voter fraud scheme in history.
It surprising how few people know about the documented cases of touch screen votes for Dems going to Republican or other candidates. And I'm talking about progressive types who are usually up on such things. They are usually shocked at it because they know I don't go for the paranoid conspiracy BS.
And why is EVERY SINGLE INSTANCE of these "mistakes" not in the Democratic nominee's favor?

I've held my tongue and enjoyed the film discussions for years but I must comment on this. I am a conservative and I'm confident that Obama will win big in a couple weeks.
But I find it disturbing that IF O does lose, the reaction is already preset that it is either a racist election or a stolen election. It doesn't cross anyone's mind that perhaps he could lose because he is more liberal than a large majority of the country?

Recent stories have played up the racism angle saying that up to 30% of democrats and independents are "sensative" to racial issues and are therfore likely to vote for the GOP. I think its garbage research, but a McCain victory by margins which preclude racially motivated voters being the deciding factor is not likely. Obama's "liberal" voting record is campaign rhetoric, Obama is quite moderate. Most liberals will be disappointed with aspects of his administration...watch the Frontline section on his tenure with the Harvard Law Review...
