Agreeing with my (two or three years old) suggestion that Russell Crowe should do whatever it takes schedule- and commitment-wise to land the role of Moe in the Farelly Brothers' Three Stooges flick, Hunter Lurie has come up with two inspired additions -- Philip Seymour Hoffman as Curly and Robert Downey, Jr. as Larry. Please make this happen, God. Think about it. Perfect.

Lurie allows that "maybe Crowe is a funny guy" given that "hitting the hotel clerk in the face with a phone is a borderline-Stooges stunt on its own. No maybe about it, fella. One, you can't nice or mellow your way into being funny -- you need to be deep-down angry. Ask any honest comedian (or anyone who knows comedians). And two, I once saw a clip of Crowe at some Hollywood red carpet event when he grabbed the mike of an obsequious entertainment reporter (somebody from Access or Telemundo) and went into a Jose Jimenez-as-red-carpet-whore routine that I swear was one of the funniest improvs I've ever seen.
I have a slight issue with Lurie's Photoshopping -- Hoffman looks like his head was sliced off by a helicopter blade, or by Steve Martin's Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr -- but I'm willing to let it slide.

What about a Bowery Boys movie? With Steve Buscemi for starters. (The older the actors the better)

So is this supposed to be a biopic film or is it one of those lame Farrelly Brothers slapstic comedy movies? Sorry, but I ain't a fan of their work.

There was an article in the New Yorker a few years back about the Farrellys trying to get this project off the ground. In addition to Crowe, it mentioned Sean Penn as a possible choice for a stooge. Can't remember which one, though.

Penn would be Larry, which I think is a great idea. Not sure about the Farrellys, though. I wouldn't want to see R-rated Stooges!

All of those actors are far too cerebral to pass as Stooges. I just couldn't accept any of them as buffoons. Now, take Bush, Cheney and Rove and you've got yourself some Stooges.

I thought I read one of the Farrellys saying that they plan on casting an unknown as Curly. I agree about Crowe though; he must be cast.

I think you'd have a shot at getting that cast if it were a biopic. But it seems the Farrellys are going more for a Brain Donors type of movie here, which means you better get ready for Jason Biggs as Larry.

No offense here, I really liked Fever Pitch, but are these guys even hot directors still. It would seem like there last four or five movies have been box office disappointments. Do they have some kind of production shingle that makes them loot on the side? Fever Pitch rocked though.

Yes, this is pressing, and it would be a worthy project for these actors. But consider how long the world has endured without a Gilligan's Island feature film. This artistic void constitutes criminal negligence on the part of Hollywood, and should be any film lover's first priority.
I see Depp or Downey as Gilligan and Anthony Hopkins or Michael Gambon as the Skipper. Gruff but loveable, in that Royal Shakespeare Company kind of way.
The newly-glammed up Winslet is a lock for Ginger. Dench as Mrs. Howell, Wilkinson or Nighy as Thurston. Anne Hathaway as Mary Anne. I had my doubts about her, but she was in Brokeback Mountain and has worked with Demme, so I suppose she's up to the material.
Which leaves The Professor. Damn shame Ledger's dead...looks like another Oscar for DDL.

Jeff...
I guess you haven't heard. Your other boyfriend, Benicio Del Toro, is the guy that the Farrellys have picked to play Moe in the film. He's been working with them on it for a few years now, so I think it's a safe bet he'll end up doing it in the film.
And yeah... Penn was their first Larry choice, but when I spoke to Pete Farrelly a week ago, it sounded like they didn't have any firm picks for the other two Stooges yet.

I have not sought this enormous responsibility, but I will not shirk it. Those who nominated and confirmed me as Vice President were my friends and are my friends. They were of both parties, elected by all the people and acting under the Constitution in their name. It is only fitting then that I should pledge to them and to you that I will be the President of all the people. Thomas Jefferson said the people are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty. And down the years, Abraham Lincoln renewed this American article of faith asking, "Is there any better way or equal hope in the world?" cheap tiffany co jewelry
