"This movie isn't Four Christmases," Today's Gene Shalit just said on the air. "It's against Christmases." Oddly, I can't shake the urge to slip into this thing anyway. I know it will bring much suffering, but I'm a fool for the wicked Vince Vaughn tongue-lashings I'm hearing in the trailer.

Resist, Jeff. As I'd said, excepting a round of "Taboo" with Jon Favreau and Katy Mixon (as his wife), there's nothing laugh-out-loud funny. Anything chuckle-worthy already is in the trailer. Resist. Seriously.

You want to go even though Gene Shalit just slagged it with an old school pun?
Yeah, that kinda makes sense, actually.

It looks horrendously bad -- but Favreau's body looks AMAZING.

I've never seen anyone shift from looking in good shape to normal to horribly fat and back again as much as Favreau.
The craziest thing is watching the "making of stuff" on the Iron Man DVD. He's an almost unrecgonizable blob during pre-production and loses 85 lbs during filming, IIRC. I don't know how you put on that much OR lose that much...

How the fuck is Wells not repulsed by this seeming absolute turd of a movie? It looks AWFUL!
And I thought they saved piece of shit concepts like this for people like Kate Hudson and Matthew McConoughy.

Wells must think John Favreau doing a 'Ram Jam' on Vince Vaughn is funny...

The 2 screenwriters on this film are the funniest people I have ever met in my entire life.

Have there been comedies in the past that were ten times smarter/funnier/better than their advertising campaigns gave them credit for? There must be some examples of this, but I can't think of any off the top of my head, and have serious doubts that this movie's one of them.

NOTIMPRESSED -- it definitely has never happened. Comedies put their funniest gags in the trailers (as long as its deemed approppriate). There are some R-rated comedies that are slightly better than their trailers (ROLE MODELS comes to mind) because of the fact that they can't show R-rated stuff. But with Red-Band trailers, it hasn't and isn't ever going to happen.
