The Directors Guild of America wll bestow an honorary membership upon Roger Ebert at the group's 61st annual awards dinner, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza hotel on 1.31.09.

What a wonderful announcement...especially for someone who really has been the champion of directors like Scorsese, Altman, Errol Morris, Oliver Stone, Werner Herzog, etc. I hope someone like Scorsese or Herzog presents the membership to Roger Ebert. It will be a wonderful night no matter who wins the DGA this year.
