Does it strike anyone else as a little odd that a character that became wildly popular by being the ultimate whack job anarchist is sucking up for voters to get an Oscar? It would be a little like Che Guevara appearing on the View to suck up for an Emmy.
Yeah, I know the Joker is a corporate trademark. But still.
If all the academy voters see Dark Knight on Blu-Ray, Heath Ledger is a shoo-in for Best Supporting Actor. I was completely wowed by both the Blu-Ray sound and picture quality of the film when I saw it this weekend.
That's terrible. Having the character holding a posthumous Oscar and sending a message soliciting Academy votes? Why don't they just post a picture of Ledger's gravestone? it'd be less presumptuous.
I think he deserves the award, but that ad sucks.

It's a sweet image but I like the Kirk Lazarus FYC ad a little more.

Yeah, this poster is rather phony in concept. The spirit of Oscar and the spirit of The Joker are completely opposite.
One says "fuck me," the other says "fuck you."

It is a very morbid ad. But not having seen The Dark Knight, I am associating it more with Ledger, and less the Joker, but still. Shivers.
