Favorite Black Scripts

My five favorite Black List titles/synopses, just by the sound and attitude of them: (a) The Beaver by Kyle Killen -- "a depressed man finds hope in a beaver puppet that he wears on his hand" (b) The Oranges by Jay Reiss & Ian Helfer -- "A man has a romantic relationship with the daughter of a family friend, which turns their lives upside down"; (c) Fuckbuddies by Liz Meriwether -- "A guy and a girl struggle to have an exclusively sexual relationship as they both come to realize they want much more"; (d) Winter's Discontent by Paul Fruchbom -- "When Herb Winter's wife of fifty years dies, the faithful but sexually frustrated widower moves into a retirement community to start living the swinging single life" and (e) Nowhere Boy by Matt Greenhalgh -- "The story of John Lennon's rise from lonely, Liverpool teenager to iconic rock star."

If anyone has any PDFs of these, please send along.

Hey Wells -- did you notice that Foxcatcher made the list?

FOXCATCHER by E Max Frye & Dan Futterman
“Based on the true story of John du Pont, a paranoid schizophrenic who was heir to the du Pont fortune. After building a wrestling training facility named Team Foxcatcher on his Pennsylvania estate, Du Pont shot and killed Olympic gold medal-winning grappler David Schulz.”

The Beaver sounds like Lars and the Real Girl 2. I'll pass on that one I think. Though with Steve Carrell rumored to be starring, it might be funny.

There's a lot of interesting-sounding stuff on this list.

Child 44 (which Ridley is gonna direct) sounds cool. The Low Dweller (which got a lot of early buzz) might be good in a NCFOM way. There seemed to be way too many teen sex comedies on this list. And also, as much as I love watching 'em, there's a lot of CIA/spy/real-world terrorist themed stuff that paying, regular-joe audiences will ignore.

I like that there are multiple scripts that involve a guy and girl dealing with the fact they actually love each other.

For some reason my favourite was:
KNIGHTS by Nick Confalone & Neal Dusedau
“A kickass British adventure where knighted celebrities (an entrepreneur, a soccer player, a musician, and an actor) are called upon to defend their country.”

Can we get Connery out of retirement, playing himself? I'd buy that for a dollar.

BAD TEACHER sounds week, except that it's by the guys behind The Office (and, apparently, Ghostbusters III).

Lastly, am I doing a doubletake or is there a film in there actually based on Grand Theft Auto??

Memo to Dane Cook and Kate Hudson--contact your respective agencies.

Whoa. KNIGHTS is the exact same premise as ROUNDTABLE by Brian K. Vaughn, which was a wickedly well executed commercial idea. Only one of those fuckers is getting made, that's for sure.

I would go see FUCK BUDDIES if I had a guarantee they wouldn't change the title.

Apologize if this is a triple post, but I've been having problems on Internet Explorer. What I've been trying to say is: I would go see FUCK BUDDIES only if I had a guarantee they wouldn't change the title for release.

Isn't this about every modern romantic-comedy made since, say, 1996?

Citizen you bet it is, it used to all about the freshest cliches, or now, it seems the skankiest cliches.

And all of these flicks sound like one long first act movies. At least the ones I read were.
