If I was a mother with an infant child and no marketable skills other than being attractive enough to attract powerful rich guys in their 50s and receiving $15 grand per month to live on, I would subsist on $6 grand per month and sock the rest away for a rainy day. In a year's time I'd have over $100 grand in savings, and I could use this for investments if and when the gravy train stops.

Monday morning quarterbacking. She probably figured that the current Mrs. E would pass away from her cancer and then she'd end up marrying him.

ahhh, gold-digger bimbos, breaking up marriages and living on others' money.
I have no sympathy.

I bet she's a swell mom.
I will be very surprised if the child belongs to John Edwards. No really.
My 2 cent guess: I think it's fair to say she's a gold digger. And now that the cash flow has stopped she's going to ride the "banging Edward's" and the "he may or may not be the dad" train through to the completion of her book. Then there will be the perverbial DNA contest, the TMZ et al bus, followed up by the Oprah interview where she tearfully admits Edwards' is not the baby's dad but really truly believed he was and she didn't mean to be ..mean....Wait, that's the plot from a 1992 MOW.
PS I just have to say this. Watched the
"Mama Crapia" last night and I'm going on record that that is the single worst movie in the history of mankind. I screamed in embarassment and ran from the room and continued to scream from the upstairs kitchen and then proceeded to paint my ass green and then run screaming into the night. Oh my god that was just dear god in heaven that was an abomination that was an abortion that should ruin everyone's career but it won't wreck Ms. Streep's that's her one pass but Pierce Brosnan!! He should be 'Whipped for or'doing termegent !" All of them awful awful shame shame. In the old days the audience would carry the Opera diva on their shoulders through the streets as the ultimate sign of respect and glory...well they should carry all of these actors from the film, carry them on their shoulders and huck them into the Hudson River for that dreadful mistake in their careers...and DON'T get me started on the director. Yee gods have they no respect for human decency?!

$6 grand per month is "subsisting?" That would be living high on the hog for me, even with the dependent (whom I would absolutely spoil with that amount of money). Rich people are just in another plane of existence.

I'd love to subsist on $6,000/month. A single mom w/ child could do very well with less.

When 6K a month is just subsisting, it's time to move out of NYC or LA.

I was thinking something similar when reading about guys at Goldman Sachs making $70 million a year-- but working 190 hours a week, not recognizing their kids, etc. Somehow none of them ever had the thought I had-- I COULD DO THAT FOR ONE YEAR AND THEN LIVE ON MY OWN PRIVATE ISLAND FOREVER!

$15000/month is about right for California. Notice she's in NJ now....$6K should work for her.

"Broke, Living in Jersey" is some kind of beautiful zen depiction of despondency.
