Taschen's Godfather Family Album is selling on Amazon for $686 bucks and change. That's a lot of money for a book. Selections from photographer Steve Schapiro's archives of the Godfather shoot, an insider's view of the making of the legendary trilogy, limited to 1,000 copies, all signed by Schapiro, etc. I'll go $200, $250 -- no higher.

psh. That's nothing compared to what a decent copy of Larry Clark's Teenage Lust will cost you. (Life changing book, btw).

Taschen does that a lot -- a year or two after they release it in an oversized, expensive format, they release it in a smaller and much cheaper (relatively) model. Wait until Christmas 2010, and this will be under $100.

I have that Kubrick book. It's amazing. So is their much smaller book on Michael Mann.

Was wondering what happened to all those former Soviet revisionists who would go through the old history books to change text and pictures.
Seems at least one has found a home at HE, ironically right next to the Che ad....

$686 for The Godfather? That's madness. It's on sale on eBay for $700, too. I fear this may be the future of book publishing.
Seriously, how much could I get for my autographed first-edition (withdrawn) of Klaus Kinski's autobio "All I Need Is Love" in very fine condition? I'm told he didn't sign many.
