I'm sorry but this is nonsense. David Gregory was one of the few mainstream journalists who genuinely hounded the Bushies during his stint as White House correspondent.
I guess you feel Maddow wuz robbed, or you somehow don't think Gregory is good looking enough or something, but the guy was by far the best choice for this gig.
I totally disagree, and I'd actually say some of those same things about Maddow, whom I love but the format of whose show, which simply plays like a cheaper variation on COUNTDOWN, does her no favors, making her sound stilted and scripted.
Gregory's forte is asking questions, and that's what MTP calls for, so he's a good fit. Maddow's forte is arguing on her feet (there's no one better at it on TV), and it's practically a crime the way her show completely does away with what is her greatest skill. There, I said it. I committed Left Wing Blasphemy.
Agree with everything you saw about The Rachel Maddow Show, which I never watch because it is indeed terrible and a bastardization of her essence. Not to mention the absurd concessions to ideas of femininity they've forced on her.

I have mixed opnions on Gregory. On one hand, Bush called him 'Stretch' implying that Gregory was stretching the truth whenever he didn't follow the GOP version of events, and he was one of the few broadcast journalist that did so. On the other hand, I find his shallow and not too quick on his feet in interview situations. I had problems with the late lamented Russert as well, so don't really know if this is much of a downgrade...the dickepedia entry could be boiler-plated for use on 90% of media personalities.

He's awkward and stilted and not insightful, and not a very good tv host. It's relevant.
