I hope everyone who wasn't taking it seriously before is reconsidering.

Best footage yet, even if it was still all in slo-mo.

I just want to know if all these clips we're seeing in slow-motion in the trailers will also be in slow-motion in the final cut. It seems rather excessive to me. I know a quick and easy fix for that rumored running time problem.

I really doubt that. For one, Snyder's pretty aware of what goes on fanboy-wise, and I'm sure he knows people think he overuses slo-mo.

Secondly, I think he knows that to run everything through effects is going to cheapen what Moore and Gibbons envisioned.

Also, I think if there was an overabundance of slo-mo, someone at the studio would have used your very argument against him when discussing the running time.

Hope I'm not misplacing my faith.

I'm kind of feeling this as potentially one of the elite films of next year, and a major critical success.

This was what they showed at Comic-Con. Took 'em long enough to put a good version online.

Snyder pulled off 300 with a whole shitload of slo-mo shots and it was great.

This looks to be 50 times more awesome than 300 was.

I just re-read Watchmen, perhaps for the first time since it came out in its original format. I have to say it works better in the serialized form, and much, MUCH better if you don't know where it's going to end up.

And I'm very intrigued as to what Snyder has planned for the ending, since he's acknowledged he has changed one key element from the ending of the comic (thank goodness, in my opinion).

I still stand by my original belief that Watchmen would work better as an HBO miniseries, but I think a competent film version can be made if all the extra stuff that gives it added resonance (Behind the Mask, Black Freighter, etc.) is stripped away or presented in the DVD.

The more I see footage (though most of this is old) the more I think he nailed it. The book was considered as unfilmable as Lord of the Rings and while SOME people may bitch they're weak movies I think it's pretty clear Jackson et al managed to do the impossible.

As for the slo mo - I imagine (based on 300) there is a fair bit in the movie but I feel like the trailer probably ups the ante so fanboys can appreciate each shot and how well it replicates the comic frames.

p.s. Fuck typepad - I don't have all day to post these things.
